Tewkesbury Tractor run 2021 (Ashleworth lane)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A funny thing happened on our cycle ride today. We stopped on the side of the road to let a couple of tractors go past, when I say a couple it turned out to be about 100 tractors on the annual Tewkesbury Tractor Run. They took over 10 minutes to go past us.
If interested in Farming I also have a video of threshing in the 1940's here • Lainchburys threshing
Plus a web site covering the history of the company featured here sites.google.com/view/lainchb...

Wow! Here in the U.S. there is usually a tractor parade down the main street. It is during the county fair week. Not just the tractors, but other farm machines as well. We got caught in one once. Everyone was bottled up for an hour. They are not as spread out as what you had to wait for. That was a lot of money cruising by you. Take care!

Hi Michael, thanks for your comment. even though we were held up for a while it was a very impressive sight and good to watch. Also it raised much needed funds for charity. I have been interested in farm machinery since watching threshing taking place as a young lad in the village I was born. You can see the actual threshing in one of my videos here - kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6eMuKVuh6erZJs.html. I also have a web site covering the Lainchbury company here sites.google.com/view/lainchburys

I saw them all parked up on the A417 as I approached Staunton on Sunday afternoon.

They started from a farm along Ashleworth lane, had we been 1 minute earlier we would have passed by before they came out. It was an impressive sight but I bet some impatient motorists were upset at being held up.

Wow! One hundred big modern tractors? I guess that'd be about ten million quid just went past!

@@scrimperuk a hundred grand a piece, and that's for a second handie! My wife was a business insurance underwriter for many years and there's an awful lot of agricultural equipment to be insured around these parts. She knows the worth of farm equipment alright!

That's a lot of tractors and you were wise to pull over. Modern tractors leave very little room on country lanes. I don't get annoyed with having to stop as I'm retired and these guys are earning a living feeding us. Here in France you still see many older tractors still in daily use. The farmer we buy logs from runs an old (50 years?) Fiat tractor and he tells me it it's his favourite tractor of the 4 he owns, being so small. He starts it and it runs all day and so far has clocked up more than 250000 hours. It's a noisy old thing and I know he's coming with the logs long before I see him. I joke with him about getting rid of it and he says 'never'. Did you manage your ride and how is the ebike conversion going?

Hi Colin. Thanks for your interesting comment about the tractors. The e-bike conversion has been fine sine we fitted a proper decent quality rim.

About your whirling gigs, Have you ever used products to represent blowing Hair & or a Kilt, scarf, Etc, Etc? And what works for this application? I've thought of using- used plastic Toothbrushes instead of Wood for figurines for a longer-lasting outdoor product for my first Whirlygig build, your thoughts Please! Love your shows G.W.S. Ont. Thank you for your comment Gary, glad you like the videos. I have to say I haven't tried any of the things you suggest on my Whirligigs. My problem is the British weather, I leave mine outside all year around and they do suffer and need regular repairs, I am yet to find any paint or varnish that stops the weather getting into the wood and causing problems so the simpler the better.
