TESTING WEEK ⛸️: prepare with me to test my gold free skate for the THIRD time
a little video to show you all the reality of my testing journey through sickness :( it's been a rough beginning of the year that began with sickness, failure, and disappointment. if anything i hope this video makes you feel less alone if you are also facing rejections and failures. after traveling these next few months all i'm going to focus on is passing my gold freeskate test, applying to skating shows, and of course youtube :)

RACHEELLL!!! This is not a failure, it's just another step forward to an ultimate success, you are so amazing and you work so hard!! That in itself is a success. You have to remember that all your efforts are more representative of you than all your successes. Love u so much girl, keep going

love you too 🥺❤️
i just had intermediate mif testing trauma so i totally understand. we filmed it like 4 times and it just kept getting worse so we ended up just giving up and deciding to retry filming it when im more consistent. keep your head up! every time you'll be more prepared than the last. you got this! think about how far you've come and be so proud of your progress.
ugh i’m really sorry!! but its huge that you were even able to try and try again. you are huge motivation and inspiration for so many people, including me. proud of you regardless
You are not a failure. You've got this. I've posted some difficult skates to KZread recently, and I find that it helps me because I can see what I was doing wrong. Right now I'm struggling with very basic stuff. But I've had a solid year of "one thing after another" and it shows in my skating. In your case, you will recover and do well. You're already doing well.
you’re such a huge inspiration for me ngl! i feel like recently i’ve been going backwards in my skating skills, my spins went from good to questionable and i always fall when i jump. this makes me wanna get back on the ice even when i feel like so dumb :,)) even looking at you fall, i am just in awe, like i could be like you one day

You should maybe think about going to the pro shop to get your skates checked out and re-fit and/or sharpened.
ugh rachel i’m so sorry you didn’t pass but i am still SO PROUD OF YOU!! you gave it your all even when you weren’t feeling great and now you’ll be even better prepared for next time. your videos are part of the reason i’ve started skating again recently and i hope you know how much of a light you are in so many peoples lives!! every “failure” is a learning opportunity to improve for next time. you are also so much more than a figure skater!! i don’t know you personally lol but i’m sure you are an amazing friend, daughter, and person and have so many amazing qualities outside of also being an amazing skater. hope you’re feeling better

crying i love you 🥲❤️
Battling our own mind is I feel the most difficult part of life... I don't know you but you know... You didn't make it this time but believe in yourself. Found your vlog inspiring even though I'm just a beginner.
i can so relate to feeling this way after failure, especially when i work so hard like you did here. i know you’ve got this in the bag, and you will pass soon! love your vids!
Your so strong Rachel, you helped me with this video
U are amazing! don't cry over a test. We are so proud of u! Good luck next time and love u so much!!!!!! : )
This is so relatable for every skater! Thank you for sharing! I’ve had so many failing moments that I’m too embarrassed to share so it’s really awesome that you are able to! I thought you skated so well ❤️
You have so much courage it's inspiring as some who also deals with mental health and judgment on myself from my own personal reasons
hey rachel! soso sorry things didn’t turn out like you hoped but i want you to know that you’re not alone in this, i’m getting ready for my tests and not being able to get to the rink as much as i want has made everything really frustrating. also!! remember that skating is hard enough as is let alone while dealing with sickness for as long as you have! truly wishing you nothing but the best. and that no matter what we’re proud of you ❤️
Rachel girl this is no failure just think how you took this you are so blessed to be so good at it and I’m very happy for you so don’t take this as a failure you are just moving forward and practice makes perfect! You also inspired me to start skating so thank you have an amazing day love you
I'm also sick and haven't been able to skate in almost two weeks, so I can relate to you a little bit... I did figure skating when i was younger and took a 4 year "break" from the sport. You were a big inspiration when i started again. You'll get the test next time Rachel! Love u always
You’re fricking good. I hope you love being on the ice ❤
I'm early for once omg, I LOVE your videos and most of them help me with my skating 😭😭
You're not constantly failing. You're just in a rough patch. TBH, although I know this doesn't totally relate, but when I first took my Adult Bronze MIF test a few years ago, I failed.....like -12 something failed by all 3 judges. I still have yet to re-test although I'm a much stronger skater now. Maybe, just for te time being, it's worth putting that test on the back burner, and only doing it when your brain and body give you the green light again. I know that I have told my coach that I will not test my Bronze move until we both agree that I'm ready....more importance with me feeling confident of doing well on the test, and not "just" passing (if that makes sense).
I hope you pass the gold skate next time!!❤ best of luck towards future you and your future practices❤❤ly rachell❤
U are literally my fav. Let’s actually pass this one. Feel not sick soon
I also failed my free skate test, just keep going girl, you got this!!!
I too have the"jump off a bridge"feeling, but that's because I have no money for classes, so I can't get into freeskate to do jumps lol. I'm completely self taught and have had competing medalists tell me that my current moves are good, I just can't practice jumps.
I love watching your videos because I am in a similar position as you! It took me two years to pass my junior test (and I finally just did) and am a college student as well. I am hoping my senior free skate does not take as long! Everyone said the same thing to me too that they didn't get how I couldn't pass and failed so many times!
Hey girl!!! Ily and ur vids!!
i wanna give you a hug so bad😭❤
RACHEL!!!!! love the sweatshirt :D
You are an amazing figure skater and an amazing human!!!

My heart broke when i saw tears in her eyes 😭😭😭
U got this girlie
QUEEN RACHEL
I'm so sorry for you ❤😢 I'm sure that you will pass next time!!✨♥️ And also what happened to that poor roller he's literally dented in the middle😂
You should get an essential oil necklace and put lavender essential oils in it that’s what I do 😊
That was some really nice dancing before you put your skates on! ❤
I feel the ending of this video so hard. I was supposed to test my current moves test in august last year, but I was sick with a 102 fever or sm on testing day so I had to sit it out. The next testing session was in December but I have insane allergies and a weak immune system so I haven’t been able to get my patterns consistent and strong so I had to skip that session as well. Next session is mid march and I haven’t been able to skate in 2 weeks or a lesson in 3 weeks because of external things and me being sick. It’s so frustrating because I could’ve had this all done with half a year ago but I’m still fighting this battle because unfortunate events that keep coming right for me. If I’m being honest I’m no where near where I was with my moves back in august and I doubt that I’ll be ready in half a month. I’ve definitely been telling myself what you’ve been saying where although it’s not my first option, it’s not the end of the world if I don’t pass, and there’s always next time.

this is literally me 🥲🥲 i’m so sorry baby, things will get better for us soon ❤️
omg I just came across your channel I’ve been wanting to start skating but I have no idea where to start 😭😭 do you have any tips?
do you still use your jackson premieres? i’m about to upgrade skates >
I like the music starting from 10:55. Do you happen to know the name?
If you get sick often, get your Vit D levels tested and if you are not at 60, start supplementing with D3 (and Vit K2) aggressively!
Have you tried compete to test?? It’s so much easier I passed my junior that way with a not perfect program and I’m doing my senior at a comp next month. It’s solely based on points that way
@RachelLiza

i don’t really compete but maybe that would be a good option

maybe i’ll try it!
Argh, this sucks, but big props to you for sharing this! It definitely helps others (including me) see that everyone has struggles, and skating is HARD! I'm curious about you saying you had to wear black, I thought it was encouraged to wear a dress for free skate tests? Also, for the virtual tests where you skated clean, did you get feedback on the test form? I would hope so so that you know what to work on, it's pretty tough if they don't tell you.

dresses are encouraged but i’m fr too lazy and tired of testing to wear a dress lol

@@RachelLizaHi! I don't really know you, but I wonder if wearing a dress might help you change your whole attitude and outlook on testing. They say when you get dressed and do your face etc you just FEEL BETTER than if you stay in sweats or PJs, and maybe the same could be true with skating your program. Just putting on a dress and thinking of it like a performance, where your number 1 goal is to make your audience (the judges) SMILE! Feel pretty, smile pretty, skate pretty, give the audience the beautiful experience you are TOTALLY CAPABLE of offering to them, ...and Pass! But it feels like at this point, you maybe have an adversarial mindset towards the whole testing thing, rather than embracing the beauty of putting on a show. (((Hugs))) I just would love to see / hear you really enjoying yourself and having fun. ❤️
1:08 Im sorry I burst out laughing at this 😭😭😭
My dream is to one day compete, but I am already 20, so I know my chance has pretty much already passed.
