Testing the Quickshifter. | KTM 690 SMC R FMF 4.1 + QUICKSHIFTER [4K]

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Who in the HELL knew this thing had a quickshifter?! Well.. after many comments and some research on a bike I OWN.. it does and it works like a charm! Hot damn that was sooo much fun and now I’m addicted.
If your bike does not have a quickshifter, get one, it’s worth it and for those with a KTM 690 SMC R (at least the 21’ + 22’) you have one badass factory feature! Worth the price of this bike through and through!

Hey man, I've got the same bike, i live in italy so it's te euro version but no main differences. The quickshifter works better when you're full throttle but still it is adaptive, which means that the shifting will take more time when you're not at full throttle/at low revs. So No problems using it. I avoid using it only when I'm cruising or I'm doing a very slow pace because you can feel it not being super smooth. Just a small tip: this gearbox is harsh , that's known, so be firm (firm? Determined?) When changing gear otherwise you get many false neutrals. Oh btw I don't particularly like the quickshifter when downshifting but it does work really good at pretty much every revs

Hey man! Thanks for all the great tips! I did notice that at slower speeds it didn’t work well (obviously) and especially 1-2 was a no go. I’ll only be using it at WOT from 2-6. The downshifts scare me too haha I try and avoid it as much as possible and use the clutch because I’d hate to burn through a transmission.. I guess we’ll see how effective it is at the track!

Hell yeah! Congrats on the new bike! I remember those days of break in and then as soon as I could actually get on it for the first time, holy what a bike! False N’s are starting to get more common the more I use it but that could also be user error and/or lack of skill 🤣

@@LifeWellRidden that’s what I chalk it up as it’s more than likely my fault for not understanding how and when it wants to be used but regardless it’s still so much fun. @@SilverMustangg haha it is so easy to get into trouble on these.. it seriously is a bike if it’s own like heavier than a Supermoto but more powerful but upright and “off road” capable yet can cruise pretty good but can’t keep up with sport bikes, perfect for short runs, twisties or cities!

Appreciate the sub! And congrats on the new 690 purchase! I use an OLD Icon Variant and it’s alright, I’m really used to it but you definitely notice the added wind noise from the bill and GoPro on the front. For highway riding it’s pretty annoying haha. The only “benefit” to the old bucket is that it looks cool and more dirt bikey than street. I would say get something you are comfortable with, the new icon variant pro looks sweet but my guess will have the same amount of wind noise. If you plan on doing track days then I would suggest looking at SNELL certified helmets because your gunna need one of those! Other than that, my biggest suggestion would be to go to cycle gear or another motorcycle shop and try them on. They may look cool online but could fit like garbage you never know haha

I wonder if he ever figured out it works down shifting too? Most bikes will easily up-shift without the clutch. Just need to slightly back off the throttle. It's down-shifting that's an issue on a regular bike. I was so use to blipping the throttle on the DRZ. Had to brake that habit.

@@LifeWellRidden I'm new to it too. I've only had a handful of rides on the KTM. Weather is, shall we say, less than desirable. I've learned the bike doesn't like manual rev matching. Even if you don't rev match and just click it down like normal (normal riding) it still blips the fuel while using the clutch. It's a weird set-up for an old schooler. 👍
