    Nice job keeping it level on those cuts bro. Not easy to do with a big saw. Looks like the bandsaw mill is running well.

    Great video, I love my Stihl saw and you are correct about not needing a saw that size even for our 5 acres… but I would enjoy trying it out once!!! Btw this is Shonn from Abundant Living Homesteaders

    I have a Stihl n I love it! Wouldn't trade it! Cuts just like I want it to. I'd take those flat pieces n sand them down, seal them with poly and make some nice seats or tables with them! Might have to cut them thinner but yeah, they'd be nice sitting down on the farm! That's a beast Chad! Lol

    Your right about their weight killing you. Lugging my ms 660 with a 36 inch bar and mill attached with a 5 gallon jug in the other hand at 7500 feet up and down gave me chest pains last time. 😅

    I watch a number of saw channels. Guys out west generally use a 70cc range saw for a general workhorse and a 90cc for big softwood. Back east where I cut hardwood like maple for firewood a 50cc range gets it done with a little bit of 70cc for just a few trees. I can't see this saw as anything but a sawmill or if you cut redwood for some reason. Low end looks good for the price.

    I miss my Sthil MS660… had a break in and it along with 3 other saws, and other tools went missing. For chainsaw mill setups you can get ripping chains to make better cuts while using your mill

    I've got a stihl MS881, but I've been looking at getting one of these Holzfforma clone saws as a secondary milling saw. I won't feel as bad abusing one of these as I do with the 881.

    I have an 881 and the saw he’s using in the video. I tend to baby the Stihl and work the cheaper saw way more. I like the cheaper saw too. It rips through everything I can throw at it.

    in regards to the low end torque you might want to swap the cluch on that thing with a lit stihl cluch

  • @VaderSpade
    @VaderSpade Жыл бұрын

    I have both Stihl and Farmertec (Stihl copies) saws. As far as low in torque being better with Stihl it really only applies to the older generation of Stihl. The 056, 070, & 090s. I've owned a couple 090s and still mill with my old 056, and well as my newer 660 & 880. Those old saws had some serious low end torque. My Stihl 460, 660, & 880 don't have any more torque than the MUCH cheaper knock offs. I don't expect the knock offs to live as long as the Stihls but that's a trade off I'll take for the price.

    The log was 2 limbs that grew too close together and looked like 1 log, next time you encounter that look at the bottom of the log, what you were dealing with is called included bark.

So I needed time. I'm so sorry I abandoned you. Please let me know if there's anything I can do for you!!! Love you both.
