My does great at third setting for 0.15. You need it fully charger, because when Lipo inside at 1/2 capacity - It welds poorly. I added second lipo inside in parallel, it doesn´t draw-down that fast. Also added USB-C charging for mine.

The funny thing about this portable spot welder is that the circuit is actually of very high quality. They just chose a high internal resistance battery pack(because of costs obviously). Adding a 2nd cell in parallel massively helps in this regard with it.

What about adding a couple of supercapacitors? I have a few 100F 2.7V ones lying around, 2 in series should do I think.

@@TheFreak111 2 in series wouldn't work. You'd kill them very very quickly from overcharge. You'd need 5 to work well.

@@TheFreak111 You seem to be correct. Sorry, it's just that all the DIY spot welders that I personally build are powered by 3-4S NMC/LFP packs :P

For the record I blew it up putting a 3s battery on it. It's built for 3v and cannot handle 12v.

Try it with the charger connected. I bought a bifrc in the aluminum box, it wasnt strong enough, i then connected it to the charger and it completely changed the strength of welds.

The spot welder manual recommends 0.12 thick nickel strip

recently got a bifrc and glad I did, also discovered it has a trigger button interface, I assume this is to trigger the spot weld manually instead of having to go by the timer?

@@stevenc22 had to purchase a second bifrc because it started smoking and popped one of the mosfets, just got the second one and the same thing has happened? maybe it's a fake.

This one is not good. I used two times and when I try after 3 month it did not worked. I open it and the battery is swollen.

Bought one half a year ago and I wasn't lucky. It failed on me when I was building my second battery pack. So I threw it away and built a homemade welder using a microwave transformer. Super reliable and runs off of the grid. A few months later I had issues with the first battery pack I made with this portable welder. The welds were coming off due to the road vibration. So I scrapped all that nickel and had to do it again with the homemade welder and that battery has been running fine ever since, no more weak weld issue. Again, maybe I wasn't lucky and got recked by poor Chinese quality control, but from my experience, I'd walk away from this thing.

They are garbage and the reason they are garbage is the cell. it has a single cell battery. It DOES weld but the weld is weak and unreliable. Just spend the extra on a proper one if you want reliable welds.

Under 50v is considered low voltage and can't hurt you

If you want to buy spot welder always get one with supercapacitors. You can burn your house with weak spot welds on battery.
