    As I have said in other video's about this bracelet. If you are in the UK, be careful as the knife may class as a concealed carry. I was at A+E (Emergency Room) with my daughter last week. On the wall in the Triage Room, was a notice, to the effect of, if it was noticed a patient, etc was wearing a survival bracelet. The Triage Nurse was to discreetly leave the room and phone the Police/ Hospital Security. I saw the notice on the wall when I went in and as I was wearing my Survival Bracelet (as always) showed her it wasn't one with a concealed knife, just a compass, flat metal plate striker and micro ferro rod, whistle. So, be aware if in the UK ,as the Police may have you even out on the streets, if they notice your bracelet and check you over, under Stop and Search rules.

    My pleasure. We have a lot in common, in the prepping community. But the big one is the language we share, so most prepping video's are USA based, but our laws in the UK are so strict, on what we would say was normal survival gear. The authorities take a very dim view of knives, etc. and it can end up with a jail sentence, even some of the better multi-tools such as Gerber or Leatherman can fall foul of our laws, if the main blade is over 3 inches long and carried on your person, not in a toolbox, etc. Locking knives, Butterfly Knives, Flick Knives, etc are ALL illegal in public, so is any blade over 3 inches long or any purposely concealed blade. I have a folding knife with a blade longer than 3 inches I use around the house, but have to leave it at home, even if I go next door to my neighbours, as I would have left my house and used the public sidewalk to get to my neighbours 10 feet away. About the only thing you can legally carry in your pocket is the good old Swiss Army Knife set. Crazy, I know. But because of the criminal element (drug gangs, etc using knives as their preference, as sidearms (handguns) are also illegal in the UK and carry a heavier jail term) they have tarred everyone with the same brush, and being a Survivalist or Prepper , doesn't cut it with the Police or legal system here. They would probably label you a "Right wing nut job" as a bonus, so the Security Services could then keep an eye on you as well, if they felt the need.

    Mark, I’m stoked you shared so much. Different perspectives and insights are a great part of the conversation. Interesting to hear similarities and differences. I’m assuming if your kit is in your vehicle or home your ok?

  • @markplane5994

    @markplane5994

    Basically yes, however there are rules to that. In a vehicle, a knife cannot be kept in the Glovebox or door compartment, it could be classed as an offensive weapon, so the smart thing is to have a tool box in the trunk. Even when I go camping, I put my big chopping knife in the bottom of my rucksack, underneath everything else, so very difficult to get to, unless I completely empty my rucksack until I get to the land I am camping on. There, it is legally a tool for the purposes of camping, etc. I no longer drive, so have to walk to my local range (2 miles away) to use my Air Rifle (Pellet Rifle) as I can't use it at home, there is a Public Children's Play Area, over the fence at the rear of my property, so illegal to use my rifle even in my own backyard. Pellet Rifles tend not to be allowed on public transport (Bus company discretion), they tend to be viewed as weapons, even though legally they are not and can be freely bought by someone over 18 and with valid address ID, and they have to be in a proper locked slip (Gun Bag or case) if in public. Our laws are so strict for the law abiding, it has left the criminals with all the cards, as they don't care about the law anyway, that is why they are criminals. We, in the UK, just have to work around our laws to the best of our ability. Otherwise, it could mean a Criminal Record and Jail time. Such as going shooting in the local hills, without written permission of the landowner, even with a Pellet Rifle is now classed as "Armed Trespass", it carries a sentence of 5 years. The rich, corporations and The Crown mostly own all the land, so getting permission is practically impossible, unless you know a local Farmer, who owns his own land and will let you shoot or you have enough money to buy yourself a Acre or 2. Have a look at this. This is the law as it stands. "Carrying Firearms in public places - Section 19 of the Firearms Act 1968 makes it an offence for someone to have with them a loaded shotgun, a loaded air weapon, or any other firearm (whether loaded or not) together with ammunition suitable for use in that firearm in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse (the proof whereof lies on the person). The Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003 also extends the Firearms Act to include unloaded air weapons and imitation firearms" You will notice that covers Pellet Guns as well (Air Weapons). I have lawful authority and reasonable excuse to carry my rifle, secure in its bag, as I am a Gun Club member going to and from the range for the purposes of target shooting and can produce my club membership card.

After I bought it I wanted to see someone that gave a good review and I think that a 14 like myself will love this. Anything knife related makes me just so happy because I collect them and I enjoy viewing peoples perspectives such as yours. Great vid dude, keep grindin.

    I see value in it for places you don't need the full meal deal. I have a button Suunto on my watch which I've referred to often when I'm out and about and going into some mucky place I might get disoriented in. I don't carry my big Suunto everywhere. A little package opener/tape cutter saves my knifes edge. A little rope for strapping that thing to my dolly. Absolutely handy to have in your pocket or wrist.

    What are you using to scrape the ferro rod? Materials that are high in carbon are the best. I actually use a pruning shear sharpener - whoa, best ever. But try different metals - from pliers to knives, etc. see if you can get anything to work. Best of luck to you!!! Let us know how it goes.
