    Thank you brother! Really appreciate your honest opinion on the rod! Glad you liked it! And just to add another characteristic of the rod and this is for those who love the Striped bass aggressive strikes! you can easily throw and pump a 2oz popper and get that enticing top water action on the lure. Thanks again Ed, enjoy the rod, come up here for some striped bass action!

    I did in fact with the Alon a week ago, Monterey Bay, throw a 1.5oz topwater popper. This is where it performs. I could really get it out there.

    Excellent review brotha. As an owner of both the trifecta as well. This rod will comfortably suit the range 120-140mm profile. As far as striped Bass season is on the rise it will pair nicely with the Vr75.

    Great review thank you! & Jun is an awesome guy, I am planning on picking one one of these rods for exactly the reason/s you mention, in one word “options” a rod like this hits both ends of spectrum in my mind at a reasonable cost from 5/8 Calissa’s to 1.5 oz striped or halibut offerings from the surf. I’m a big fan of both your channels. Wishing you tight lines from the Bay Area / cheers

    Awesome review! That rod looks like it’s built very well. Thank you for the honest review. I think you really covered it all in this video. So I guess if you are taking a hike out to a spot or something and only want to bring one rod this is a solid option. I also see you we’re able to break this rod in pretty good with that haul of perch in the last vid! Keep it coming Edward I’m loving these videos. 🤙

    Great review Ed. I picked up one of Jun’s Alon rods the moment he released them. I love it. It just balances perfectly for me and fits my style of casting beautifully. It casts both 1/2 oz jerkbaits and 2 oz Carolina rigs farther than any rod I’ve used for either. I really like the Okuma MLa Celilio which you recommended last year to me, in fact I bought both a 8’6” and 9’6” version. Mimi loves the 8’6” one and uses it for casting jerkbaits and has nailed some great stripers with it from our favorite pier. I enjoy the 9’6” Celilio and it does great casting Calissas and such but I fear with such a light tip it could be hard to bring in a striper larger than 25” or so and I also question my hook setting with it. That said I use it more on a pier than surf but the Alon while heavier again is a great all-around rod and just feels great in my hand. The whip as I send out a lure or rig just gels with my casting style. Still glad I have the Celilio as I’d still choose the Celilio over the Alon for straight barred perch targeting in the surf and if I’m mostly tossing lighter rigs. Really glad I have both. Your review was spot on and I do look forward to seeing your thoughts as you use it more down the road too.

    Thanks for the review and the videos you put out. When you say it has a medium heavy action do you mean medium heavy power? Like how stiff the rod is? Or a moderate fast action, where the rod bends less as you get closer to the grip, when compared to the moderate action salmon rods you reference? Thanks.

  • @Hook2Cook

    @Hook2Cook

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes medium heavy power. It’s not the most parabolic but the tip is sensitive enough to make light bait casts. It’s stiffer than the salmon steelhead rods

    The Alon rod components are from Japan- assembled in China. Are Van Staal reels made in China? Some Van Staal components will be manufactured in China, but all of the reels will be put together in Tulsa Either way, the ratings are hard to find and are ideal for the scenarios a lot of us fish.

  • @TheD510addict

    Highly doubt the blank is made in Japan and most rods above Ugly Sticks are using Fuji components. Van Staals are the high end product line made by the company that makes 95 percent of the reels on the market....there might be 1 or 2 companies making full made in USA reels. One being IRT.
