    The problem I have with the SPE DPK 11-16 6.7 psd was not with the high pressure but rather with the low pressure for starting. Long starts, sluggish starts, front fuel tube from upper filter to spe fuel manifold vibrates like mad. The exofilter on the 11-16 causes undue bending (kinking) of the return line. Air is getting in the system someplace.

    Truck looks good, as long you are happy with it. I prefer the stock wheels, but that is just me. Regarding the teflon tape, could you use an approved diesel resistant paste instead (preventing teflon tape contamination during install)? Read some comments on forums, SPE is looking at including o-rings now. Awesome content, you and the SPE team continue to help understand the 6.7, coming from the 6.0.

    Guys, seriously!!! I jumped head first into buying this kit. Kit arrived sooner than expected and my shop was not ready for me. Once we got the shop time, we started the install, using Corey's video as a guide. Notice: the comments about the "ease of taking off the top end parts" at the front of the video is a stretch. Doable, yes, easy, not so much. Before I get into this let me throw out the challenge for someone from MDM or SPE to respond. I see lots of posts with no responses. Here we go. 2019 F350 Dually - 100% factory CP4 failed, warranty covered (thank you Jesus) new fuel system installed, $18,000 avoided. Scared to death owner (me) purchased the DPK from SPE and excited. Started install went relatively smooth until the point we tried to connect the new quick disconnects to both the new supply quick connects to the truck. The parts that were sent in the shrink wrapped kit. Quick connect 6 AN ORB x12MM (.465") were milled incorrectly and would not connect to the lines. The supplied parts were 6 AN ORB x12.56MM (.495"). They would not even fit with the new 90 degree quick disconnect pipe that comes off the "Y" filter under the hood. 4+hours into the install, we had to return the truck to factory which was not a desired outcome. I read multiple posts about low pressure warnings and the only rebuttal I found was running if you were running a higher pressure lift pump. WTAH? SPE, S&S, whatever your DPK manufacturer is, how do they solve for the low pressure warnings when they add a second route for fuel to the top end while still maintaining fuel to the low end (where the factory pressure sensor is reading from)? I am returning the SPE kit due to it being defective but would like to get these answers addressed before I re-order one. Readers, take it from me, the need for a DPK is 100% a genuine need but we all need to make sure that these manufacturers take all things into consideration. Not suggesting they don't or haven't but if there are issues due to these mods, we need to know about them. I suspect the existence of these issues highly depend on where you are starting from. If you have other mods with your fuel system, I can see these being problematic. If you are starting from factory, like me, There should be no issues because when these were designed, a factory setup *should have been the basis for engineering. Anyone? Buler?Buler?. thanks.

    @@powderslayer Yes, and No. I didn't buy my kit from SPE so I had to go back through my vendor who totally took care of me. Mad props to @moderndiesel for standing behind their service and to SPE for the same. It turns out that my kit was mistakenly put together with the wrong quick connects, that was it. Due to the costs of the kit, the mechanic spending the time he did on it, I asked for a full refund and they gave it. I decided to hold off until my warranty is out b4 moving forward. No, SPE (or anyone) has answered the question on low pressure. Everything I read gives the indication that you will get a low pressure warning if you add one of these kits UNLESS you have replaced your low pressure fuel pump. The factory pump simply cannot supply enough fuel with the extra path for fuel (unless you move your pressure sensor) which, in the SPE case, defeats the whole value prop of not having to mod the factory fuel system.

  • @cjchico

    @cjchico

    3 жыл бұрын

    Ford only uses CP4.2 pumps. There is no 4 and 4.2, just a 4.2. The 15+'s had a revised version of the 4.2 that failed less and flowed more. The DIY kit will not prevent the pump from failing. If you have a 2014 or earlier, get the DPK and 55 over kit for less than a new upgraded 15+ pump. Best of both worlds.

But I believe since the fuel feed to the high pressure pump is being split to parallel and part is going to lubricate the gear part of the pump and part is going directly to be pressurized for the fuel rail there isn't enough flow to meet both needs. @@devinfluhr7594 Chance at SPE was less than helpful. I told him I had EZLINK with position switch and he just stooped responding. I agree hard to believe the fuel regulator quit working as we installed the kit.

    You are not measuring the correct metric. You need to use forscan to measure requested rail pressure vs actual rail pressure and see what the variance is.

    $400 clams sounds like a lot until you have to spend THOUSANDS in repairs if that pump fails. I've see guys run hotshot trucks with a couple hundred thousand miles on them with no problems at all. Its like insurance, you buy it and hope you never have to use it. Stock wheels look better, IMO.

    Get DEF in your fuel and kiss the CP4 goodbye! That's a known fact. I think the DPK is 100% worth it. It only takes one time to cause $10K in damage. Cheap insurance.

    So if you install this kit you no longer need to use DEF fluid

    @@mjmjersey NO, this is NOT a delete item, this is a high pressure pump bypass, it adds a line and a blocking plate so that fuel from the pump never reaches the pump heads so when the crank in the pump eats itself the metal stays in the pump and not get transferred to the pump heads or to the injectors. So when the pump fails, all that gets replaced is the pump, the rest of the fuel system remains untouched, saving $6-8K in repair costs.

    If you're keeping your 6.7 out of warranty, you're crazy NOT to install the kit.
