Testing Haken Hooks to failure

Here we’re doing a couple tests. “Full link” and “ tension locking”. Tension locking is what you would use while setting up a tarp, rain fly, or tying your gear together.

you should have tested one without covering. Friction usually works by concentrating force, but you can see the paracord sheath covering rotating, so it may have spread out the force and actually reduced friction…
I learn something new virtually every time I watch your channel. Thanks! 🌿

I just stumbled across this knot channel. It’s so useful👍🏼
If you made the gauge small enough to fit keys 🔑 you would have a fantastic key chain. Ideal for storing and keeping keys handy.

You could tie them on with a loop of paracord
I ordered a set straight away after I saw this video, looking forward to trying them out.😁

@@nyetloki oh yes, that's an intermediate method. Also good: using cutlery, PVC bottle, lighter or on a table, wall, door frame, that little slot on the opposing side of the lock, the beer case etc.
Thanks! I wonder if the Hakens would work better without the paracord sheath? It looks like the sheath only causes issues.
I'm so excited for these
In 8th grade, just finished science fair on how strong is paradors really. The removed figure eight knot decreases the paracord’s strength the least at 75-80%

Did the Kickstarter. I am so tempted to buy the machinery needed to manufacture them for you. Hopefully you've found a manufacturer already.
I hate that I missed the kickstarter and am just seeing this now.
Do you have a video showing what these hooks are used for?
Since the Kickstarter has ended, will these be commercially available for purchase at some point?
Not sure if it affects the integrity of the weld, but paracord can be handled while still gooey if you lick your fingers first
What is the use of so many firecards? I feel like 3 max for a pack of 10 would be good. Do they have any other uses?
besides being cool, what practical benefit do these have over a carabiner?
Looks like something that a carbine hook easily can handle but I guess this is more on the fancy side😉
Cool design
0:02 Where do we get a hawken hook?? 0:20 0:43 0:55 1:19 3:12 Where do we get a fire card? 3:19 7:04 i looked and i did not see any links in the discripton.
No actual numbers for how much force it takes to get to each failure mode?
Looks like kickstarter is closed, will this be available to purchase soon?
Hope we have that hook selling in our country.. i havent seen it before
So glad I realized you have an ongoing kickstarter. Would you try using these to hang a hammock?

Seems like that tensioning aspect was useful and quick compared to something you could do with a carabiner?
Surely, the main point is to record and compare the breaking force results?? Otherwise?
Do you have a manufacturer for the hook
At 5:00 Compare the Midshipman’s Hitch to the bowline knot.
I guess you could heat the whole thing for a bit after its assembled to make the paracord shrink/stick on the loop thing. I don't know what good it would do.

I don't know how you feel about hunting, but I recently got into saddle hunting, and these guys are out here paying too much for gear hooks. You wrap a strap around a tree and hang your gear from them. If you look into it, I'm sure your creative thinking could modify these hooks to be used for that purpose. You'd have another selling pool to dip in.

@@First_Class_Amateur I’m sure there would be a market for that clip. If the shipping is not too prohibitive in cost. It looks like a great product, it’s not going to make a dent in the wallet, make a great useful gift; the user can mod it. Chicken dinner, it’s a winner! In all sincerity well done
Not a very scientific test. It would have been nice to see a gauge to see how much force was needed for point of failure on each test.
Haken is Dutch for hooks.
is the english name for these realy haken hook? Haken already means hook in german.. soo the german name would be haken haken 😅
