Testing Galileo's Observations with Modern Equipment

Ғылым және технология

This one has been in the oven for a while, but we're finally here! Up next will probably be that Stellar Spectra Video that I've probably been talking about for a good year or so now. Then maybe some Solar Stuff? Need to prepare for the Annular Eclipse coming up in October! I'll only be in a place that gets a partial, but it still should be neat!
Feels weird trying this Two-Week Cadence. I don't know how people do it, lol.
Equipment List:Telescope - Celestron Nexstar 6se
Camera - ZWO ASI 120MC for the first few (scaled using one double camera session)
Camera 2 - ZWO ASI 678MC (For all of the rest)
Lenses - Two 2x Barlow Lenses (1 Celestron, 1 Astromania)
Filters - 1 UV/IR Cut filter
Software: SharpCap, AutoStakkert, Registax, RawTherapee
Affiliate Link Update (1/5/2023):
I FULLY ADVOCATE for the Used Market as the first and primary purchasing path for Astronomy. But, if you where planning on using Amazon and found my stuff helpful, I have some Affiliate Links:

Awesome video! Love how genius he was, and I think it’s super valuable to recreate it today to make it accessible to anybody and everyone, which is super important in an era where people are still questioning the age of the earth and the the earth is still flat. Boggles the mind that people get sucked into this bullshit when science disproved it hundreds of years ago. Great video again! And thank you for teaching us how to recreate a phenomenal science experiment that changed the world. For a suggestion, to continue with this line of video making please recreate Galileo’s observations of the moons of Jupiter compared to a recreation today with your telescope and also discussing how those observations also contributed to proving the hypothesis’s that the earth orbits the sun. Smaller bodies orbit larger bodies of mass, etc.

Fascinating video, and you're really good at both at presenting the process and communicating your enthusiasm. By a strange coincidence the algorithm suggested your sun transit video just days before Frasier Cain gave you a shout-out, I subscribed instantly. Hope your channel gets the attention it deserves :)

Thank you! And that sun transit video really popped off lol. And sounds like quite the coincidence. Maybe Fraser saw that too? Grateful for the shout-out, hopefully I can live up to it!

Thank you particularly for the animation at the end. Something clicked in my brain when I saw it like that. Great video.

Good job, I have been following Venus all summer long and noticed the evolution. Galilee was just outstanding.

Galileo did have one advantage over some modern amateur astronomers. He was kinda smart.
