Testing All The Ways To Drain Sea-Doo Footwells: The Watercraft Journal, EP. 108

Unique to modern Sea-Doos are their massive footwells, which are great for riding but terrible if left out in the rain or just after washing down after a long day on the water. Believe it or not, they can collect hundreds of pounds of water and draining them can be a bit of a chore. We testing a handful of ways to drain them out, disproving a few online suggestions and using some new products that you Sea-Doo owners might want to consider.

I use a wide piece of hose and siphon out the water and the debris at the same time. Just submerge the whole length cover one end with your finger then pop it over the edge and voila.... Instant vacuum siphon. Drama and clears debris.

Got my first Sea Doo this weekend and this video was very helpful - while our floating dock angles it enough to get rid of most the water, it's a 3 seater a bunch of water is left over. The cheapo fuel pump helps get rid of the extra water in a few minutes before covering. Thank you!

As a commercial JetSki operator with over 30 years experience we’ve found the easiest and most efficient way to empty the foot wells and engine bay is to slide the skis back approximately 10 to 12 inches (30cm) on the trailer and carefully tilt the trailer up. Make sure there is still a slight weight biased towards the front but light enough that anyone can lift the trailer. Make sure you have your winch strap attached and locked in so as your ski doesn’t slide off, check your number/license plate is not being bent, you can put a small wooden chock under the back of the trailer to prevent this. Also don’t forget to Choc both trailer wheels. If you remove the bungs and the seat you can finish your wash down by giving the engine bay a final rinse as well as the footwells and leave everything to drain and dry off 👍

@@watercraftjournal Not sure why you’re taking this personally I thought the idea was to help your viewers clean the water from their modern Seadoo footwells. Firstly you didn’t slide the ski backwards making it simple to lift the trailer, you didn’t leave it in the raised position with the back of the trailer on the ground and then you didn’t rinse the footwells as I mentioned. Again we do this all the time and we’ve tried every method in your video & this works the best.

Personally? No. Defending our position? Yes. The average 55-year-old is not going to drag their 900+ lbs ski partially off of their trailer so readjust the weight distribution just so that they can dead press the tongue up over 30º to empty the footwells. The suggestion of doing so is ludicrous. A 20-year-old porter making $10/hr at your rental outfit? Sure. Have him blow his O-ring out doing it. But we're talking to the average PWC owner, and the average PWC buyer is 52-years-old. We're providing useful, repeatable tips. It's all about keeping things simple.

i crank the trailer wheel all the way up then set the wheel on top of a 4' piece of heavy pvc drainpipe stood on end.. Then i crank the wheel down until its pushing the two rear bunk supports against the driveway. Its very stable and about 45 degrees so everything drains out without killing your back. You just need to make sure it's secured to the trailer. If its on the lift i use a little suction cup to hold one end of a 5 foot hose where i want it in the footwell and like many said on here put it under water then put your finger on the end and hang it over the side. My rxpx is black and water spots bad so i plumbed an outdoor faucet to run through the water softener inside.that helps a lot.

You would think with BRP and their incredible engineers they would have considered a different or better design than that. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that on my Yamaha. Not sure, because I do know the design, but it could work on big volume just to start the process than shut the hose down, until up to the end, when the low volume / little puddles will mess the process because the air will find it way in. Or just start the process without the 3D printing part, just attaching it and the hose to deal with the little puddle remaining.

I don't know what you're doing letting that much water get in your footwells. You should not leave your ski outside. That much water will ruin the mats. Also when washing I usually pressure washer and the pressure blows most of the water out. What is left is enough to soak up with a few micro fiber towels. Honestly I think the bigger issue is the water that collects down inside the hall when you rinse out the engine compartment. For that I normally use a few microfiber towels as well but it can be time consuming and tedious to get underneath the engine, I'm thinking of switching to a small portable shop vac with an extension. Also if you do decide to go with the lifting method, I have a double jet ski trailer so it is very heavy, I use a long reach floor jack just in front of the tire to lift the whole thing so I don't have to destroy my back.

I have a Triton PWC II and I can tip it up high enough to get the water out of the foot wells of a new GTI SE 170 and my older Seadoo ski. My wife has to kneel on the back of one ski as a counterweight to help me lift it. I use a strap to pull the license plate up on its plastic, flexible mount. But what I dont like is I cant move my axle. Too much tongue weight in my opinion and no way to adjust the axle.

Why every pwc isn’t equipped with one drain hose in each footwell that goes to a tiny bulge pump is beyond me. I mean as much as we pay for these does another$75-$100 bucks really going to matter? I mean c,mon already. Seems basic

Start with using better leaf blower. Then use foam sprayer with ceramic soap and wash off. Dry with leaf blower, the whole ski. Re-install cover. Done!

If sea doo have a baler system like i think they do and yama why can't you tap into it like yama drill and make your own foot well drains problem solved permanently. Shame on the engineers who make the fish pro without footwell drains.

This is a non issue. In the water they empty as soon as you move. On the trailer they empty as soon as you move. If it's just sitting out of the water, it should have the cover on

3:30 I am not sure if you know this or not, it isnt really a pump moving anything, it is basically physics lol. You really dont need any pump for a hose in that position, water will flow by itself and quite fast. I have a piece of pipe basically for this purpose and i put one end into a footwell, then I simply suck the water from another end just enough that it ALMOST reaches my mouth, close it with a thumb, simply drop it low to the ground and voila a miracle of middle school physics is happening, PUMPLESS lol. The speed of such drain would ONLY depend on a diameter of a pipe/hose you are using, so it can be very fast if you use a thicker hose, WAY faster than this tiny pump and at a fraction of a price and zero batteries. It is sad to see to be honest how simple problems are being solved "through the ass" so to speak just because people dont know basic physics, that suckomatic is a perfect example of that, you dont need to 3d print anything OR the hose either, that last device is just perfectly dumb, sorry. It is hilarious how they used a way more complex process yet they dont understand basics to just make it simple.

You’re part right. Once the water level gets low enough the weight of the water in the well won’t push the water up and over the gunwale.
