I have been looking at these for my hobby room in the house. I have a smaller paint booth setup in the garage but too cold in winter to airbrush. Great timing on this review...thank you. BTW, my Swallowtail, fan cap and stand was delivered last night. My stand number is 150! I will put the airbrush through it's paces tomorrow. Can't wait! Happy holidays to you and your wife.

I don't know why I hadn't thought to do the water bucket output you showed in the other video. Definitely going to be useful in getting my weird basement window setup going in a variety of weather. I really appreciate your videos. I binge them every few weeks or months with the cycles of my hobbies and research. Even videos that aren't directly relevant to my interests offer something to learn.

I bought mine last March and it came with 3 fans. I LOVE it!!!! I was able to get the water to fill the edges as well. It has been a workhorse and used for a few hours almost every day. It's a lot bigger than I pictured it and was extatic to see it. I can't say enough good about it!!! Great product. Worth saving for if needed as well. It lights up the inside of the booth. One thing... don't forget to spray toward the waterfall. I found a bad habit of spraying outside of the booth that needed to be corrected. The filters are easily found on Amazon or the *bay.

Nice test and this looks like a pretty good one! This one be good all around booth and if the need arises, you could take off the panels around the front and use this to exhaust a tent booth. This would have been a more convenient option for when I was building my large indoor booth. Good tip on putting down cardboard/ paper on the spray deck because you're going to get spray dust there, even if you have a powerful exhaust fan. If you do a lot of spraying and spray large pieces, I'd paper the sides too. It's a lot easier than trying to clean overspray dust that builds up.

The rough/etched plastic on the sides is there to help funnel the water so don't apply RainX/Wax/whatever to that part of the panel. The center should be fine. Explanation: Water will follow the path of least resistance and the cohesion of water (its attraction to itself) means that the etched sides work to keep a solid sheet of water flowing down the center of the panel. You can see in the video how the water coming down the panel is angling inwards towards the center. It helps maintain a solid sheet of water in the center of the panel where the spraying is happening. Without the etching, the sheet of water may part in the center as it's drawn off to the sides of the panel. You might also get water with paint particles getting sucked up by the fans and blown around which could be a risk to the fans and also reduces the efficiency of the whole setup. tldr; The etched edges make you lose coverage on the sides but you get better coverage in the center.

Neat idea with the water curtain. And great idea putting the drain fitting in. Couple thoughts: *** Add a hose to the drain fitting and a ball valve. Run it into a 5gal bucket. Drain the tank without having to move anything. *** Almost all hobby booths have the fan pulling air directly through them. This will let the paint spray build up on the fan unit and in turn, effect the motor life span. Also sticks to the fan blades. This can knock the fan out of balance and add weight, straining the bearings and motor. Also cuts the cfm as the blade shape is altered. Better is to have the pipe run from booth to a water/filter bucket like you have first, and have the fan on the other side of the bucket. Have a length of pipe on the inlet side, from the booth, hang under the lid and just an inch or two above the water so the paint is forced to hit the water more. You can make it height adjustable so to adjust for water level. Have the outlet flush with the top of the bucket. A bit more work, but worth it to save the expensive bits and have cleaner air.

Manufacturer is Ophir (according to the link #2 you have). Was looking at several of the booths you had recommended for BF. Checking sizes, reading a bunch of reviews on Amazon and others. Went with the dual fan/dual switch 21" lighted version of this booth. Its the next step down without the waterfall. Normally $180, grabbed it as fast as I could at $120 (BF and coupon). Zero regrets. Takeaways: extremely well packaged for shipping. Major kudos there. No muss or fuss setting up as was BR's. Big complaints about other brands and price points was their low quality. Fully shocked at how well this was made. Wings popped firmly, as did lights, and didn't feel like was about to break anything. Even when moving around seeing where i wanted to put it. Hose is very good quality for overall price, as are connecting pieces and the exhaust for the window. Very surprised. Also, as BR mentioned, top exhaust for minimal back space. 👍. Very reasonable sound levels. Better than expected light, even though I use extra with them, they help those little nooks and crannies on my armor builds. Very Very satisfied at the price i got mine. Size was major deciding factor, most were 15-16" inside frame, mine was 21.5" and this videos is 24.5" inside. For some of us big hand klutzy types, space matters. Mine ticked every box and quite pleased. By the looks, if you're wanting a waterfall booth, don't be afraid to pull the trigger with that coupon. It's better quality and value than i expected for this ones little brother and am very happy i did. I got no dog in this hunt, just my experience with Ophir and Barbatos Rex recommended booth. ☕🐢

I'd love to see an attempt to measure how effective the fans on these units are. Taking a measurement of the particles in the air before painting and then another after a good chunk of time air brushing in the booth would go a long way toward showing whether these booths are actually fulfilling their purpose.

I got this exact on a black Friday sale from Amazon for $207. I feel like I’ve had it forever with how much I’ve used it. I did use rain X on it, or whatever that’s called. I did have to apply it at least three times for it to get as good as I wanted it. I can tell you, though that textured bit on the side is somewhat necessary to stop it from splashing. I was able to get it to go all the way to the edge, but it ended up splashing or misting just a little bit too much. so I wrapped up the plastic pit more in the corners, just about 4 inches and that pulls it back into the center and stops it from splashing. The fan is pretty noisy if you’re painting for over an hour. But thankfully, you only need it to barely be on with acrylics. I’ve used it without the fan on many times. I believe the three fans together are actually quieter than the two fan systems with equal amounts of pull. So the lowest thing is still quite effective. I haven’t had any trouble, lifting it up and removing the tank to wash it out. It is very light. But for the most part, I don’t wash it out as much as I probably should. I added a little filter that floats on the back and because acrylics float pretty well. They stick to the filter and I just pulled that out and wash it. Generally, though my only problem with it is that I have a dehumidifier in the room. And I have to keep adding water way too often. I have FDM 3-D printers in the room so I keep it around 30% relative humidity. so I have to add about a gallon every week. I love the lights they work very well with almost no shadows in combination with the excessive number of lights. I have in the room already. Only problem with the lights is that if I wanna tuck it away it’s a little annoying to remove the lights store them underneath and then get them back out each time. so I try to just leave it assembled all the time. Can’t think of any serious problems with this unit. After over 100 hours of painting, I haven’t needed to change the air filter. And I mean, it’s really not showing much use at all.. but it clearly works as it does clear the room of VOCs pretty quickly when my alarms go off I just turned the fan on and it sucks the air out of the room for me lol. The VSC alarms are for my printers, mostly. It goes often because I use alcohol spray to clean things. I really need to remember to turn on the fan in the booth and spray the alcohol right in the booth, I’ve haven’t tried that yet. For anyone thinking of getting this I would definitely say it’s worth it at about US$300, maybe 350 if you use it a lot. I’ve heard talk of people replacing these fans with computer fans… I’m very interested in this idea, as when I’m painting, I really like to have my daughter in the room painting with me. And it’s just a tad bit noisy conversation.

I have this one. Upgraded from the basic mini booth we've all seen before earlier this year. My main gripe is getting rid of the water means having to take off the whole upper area. Also I find that with the waterfall, working space is slightly narrow in depth. I may try spray without the waterfall and see how that works. Wonder if the air suction will be even stronger. Overall happy with this booth.

My waterfall spray booth looks identical to this one. But I'm in the United kingdom and they didn't tell me the pump was 110 volts only. It burned the pump out. Contacted the Company and they sent me a new pump for United kingdom power.. Alls great now and they also paid the shipping costs. So if your not sure when ordering check the voltage.

WHY not take the hose off the pump put on the one with the siphon then turn on the pump no drain plug needed

Another awesome video, thanks! I think the waterfall booth would be good for someone who airbrushes often or for extended periods. It seems a bit much for occasional painting unless it removes fumes from enamels or lacquers. Does it reduce the solvent smell if not exhausted outside?

Thanks for the review ... I suspect I will see one under the tree. The drain plug is a great idea from what I understand... you have to drain the water when you're done for the day. Could you add the link to find one of thos drains. Thanks 👍

would there be any benefit to adding some kind of solvent alcohol or thinner to the water?

The problem with water you'll find over time is your room gets damp and also you'll get water in your airbrush paint that causes issues. I think it's overkill unless you're airbrushing all day every day. A normal spray booth would be fine

For large items, this spray booth does well. When I build model cars, boats 3d models, and bases does help but you do have to watch the humidity.

A little fail I had decanting my first testers spray can into a plastic cup let it set of a few minutes went off to do a little chore and came back and it ate though the cup and all paint down the work bench onto floor luckily I was in garage I wasn’t able to save the red paint so next time I’ll be decanting into metal or glass , I don’t know why this happened it’s the same plastic cups that you use I think

Do you have any information on the airflow? Does it move enough air to be safe indoors? All it says is "twice the suction power of other models" Well that could be anything.
