The thing about Molotow-like chromes is the oxidation. It looks good if you're going to be at a con in a week, and you have to look your best, but three months later it just looks so different. Alclad 2 has been my go-to for a while.

Hey, 'DicePunk'.....Question..... I Too, have a Good majority of 'Alclad 2' paints ( AND I Finally found my "Polished Brass" ALC-109 ).... @Hey_MikeZeroEcho22P I don't really have a brand that I'll stick with exclusively. I still use others like Gaia. As long as it fits my project. Right now I'm experimenting with Modo Phantom paints. It's a colour shift.

Dropper bottles are the best... I buy them from ebay and transfer all my Gunze/Mr Hobby and Tamiya paints into the dropper bottles

I recently tried the polished brass from Alclad for a statue for a work friend and had the same issue where I could just buff the paint right off without any trying. That was over a black base with a 2k clear over it. Using just a lacquer black base (either MRP or Alclad, I forget which I used) it seemed to stick better.

The pro scale looks pretty nice, hopefully it will become easy to get in tbe states in a good price

Chrome tests are always welcome. Not bad results. When are we going to hear more about your airbrush, Robert?

I wonder what chrome out of all holds up to using on badges that are chrome raised detail that gets enamel over it then gets rubbed off with mineral spirits to expose the raised chrome detail. It would have to be pretty durable!!!

The VOC in the thinner go right through the rubber eye dropper.

have you ever tried the "mirror" paint from culture hustle? it just blew my mind how it is really like a liquid mirror, without having to spray it. it would be very interesting if you would do a comparision to the best chrome paints here which made a good job during this test. i really wonder if any paint is as good as the mirror paint i tried out, if yes, it would be so helpful for me because this special paint is constantly sold out..

ProScale is really appealing to me for the fact that it has a sealer and I can order for a reasonable price. My problem with chromes, literally all of them, that they are very fragile. I touch them and the shine is gone. I'm looking forward to the follow up video on it

Hey, you said you like greenstuff worlds chrome and alclad chrome but which do you prefer more?

When all these paints are on your shelf, how do you keep track of what you like best or what you prefer for specific types of projects?? Stickers? Notes? Am I the only dork who over-organizes?

Im really curious about the snp, laying heavy is a problem of mine , meaning light coats is something i struggle to do with a big gun, couldn't find much on them on the internet i cant use it if it doesn't work with a clear coat

Curious if the chrome dulls or turns silver with clear coat over it

outlaw paint is new. Supposedly won’t be in the states until November. Did you actually figure out what happened with the chrome wiping off? I like the fact that they are truly airbrush ready, but if they aren’t durable, I might as well stick with mcw.

Did you test any chrome paint over a deep blue base? I like a medieval armor shine look on my model, does beep blue work better than back?

I don't remember where I saw it, but a while back I read a thread where a guy was testing that very thing, but I can't find it again. The notion is you don't necessarily need gloss black under metallics. The most important aspect is that the base color is glass smooth...zero grain or orange peel. I actually tried metallic aluminum over a clear gloss painted on a white card, and the effect looked brighter/shinier than over gloss black. From that test, I determined that any gloss would work, and different base colors of gloss imparted different qualities in the metallic top coat. You just need to experiment to get the effect you want.

Am i the only one that like the look of Chrome over White?... i think it could look amazing on some gunpla! White Gundarium!

It looks more like polished aluminum over the white.

ProScale is not affiliated with Ultimate. Paul Bretland split from Ultimate and started ProScale as a separate company. Was your paint mixer sold specifically for paint mixing? Most lab supply companies sell vortexers that can be used to mix paint. We had several of them in the lab I used to work at.

They're all pretty close in quality but I do like SMS Hyperchrome, GSW and Alclad

The SNP chrome looks closest to my motorcycle turn signals which got chewed up in an accident. However, Their webpage seems to have expired? Do you know if they are still in business?

Hi, big fan of your content. I'm resin 3D printing coins and other token types for my rpg games and I'm looking for good shiny paints. They will be handled quite alot by me and the other players so it needs to be durable. The shinier the better. Any ideas what brands I should try out?

That's a tough one because most of these types of paints will eventually wear off. Have you considered powders like Armored Komodo? You rub and buff the powder into a tacky black painted base. Ends up looking like real metal.

good primer, prep is king for painting anything. highly recommend Golden paints varnish, use it for all my D&D figures, the matt is velvety, the gloss pretty glossy, very durable. because it's an artist varnish, it's designed to be removed with a particular solvent for touching up high art for conservators. Theirs is usually ammonia, which can be a problem with some glass cleaners if you're using a wipe-able gaming mat to remove white board markers. just buy your DM an ammonia free glass or surface cleaner and you'll be fine. Quick and easy just use a rattlecan of Molotow chrome over good priming. It's a street art brand but with good pigments and is designed for filthy concrete and moss surfaces so it's very forgiving, however, leave your primer to cure for a few days to give it a chance against beer and chippies hands.

Hi! Have you tried the system called "hydrochrome"? (This is the pop name; the technique name is electroless silver plating.). I've tried all the chrome paints around here, even got some jars shipped from China and the States, but nothing beats electroless silver plating ,It's super durable, can handle 2K coating without problems , and the candy colors come out gorgeous. Unfortunately, comercial brands like Angel Gildings in the USA can't ship internationally because chemicals are labeled as hazarous . So, I ended up creating my own formula and even designed a custom airbrush for my scale and 3D printed models. (looks like youtube, delete previous comment because I included a link to chrome samples) Maybe it's worth taking a look; it's the "holy grail" of chrome finishing.

@@evankimbrell3222 hi, It depends on the application. For large objects, such as human-sized sculptures or cars, specialized equipment is necessary. However, for small pieces, model kits or 3D prints, you can apply the components even with a small sprayer. The finish is totally worth it; results in a real metallic mirror effect. You can even apply a urethane coat on top, candy colors, effects, etc, IMHO, it`s far better than any paint I tested

Hello! This may seem a bit random but i’ve been watching a lot of your videos recently to get familiar with chrome airbrush paints. For reference, I am a cosplayer that does airbrushing on foam pieces. As of last month I have started a build on the character ‘Kitana’ from Mortal Kombat 1. Her armor has a bright cool chrome finish and I wanted your opinion on what paint you think would best fit the color? I used alclad 119 previously but thought the color was way too dark, I really liked the finish though. Hoping to get some help from a pro :)

I've been trying to buy their paint since this video came out, they just don't reply. I contacted one of their dealers (according to his Instagram profile anyway), 'Mecha Garage' and he didn't reply either. This stuff is impossible to get, it's like they hate money

Which clearcoat is recommended over Mr. paint 31? Tamiya's is "flushing" it off :(

Hi guys. I hope everyone is having a good day.

I started watching your video this evening and became concerned when you mentioned that you were having problems with the caps on your 2K gloss black. I purchased not long ago, a bottle of your 2K gloss black and a bottle of your 2K satin clear from Gundum Pros for $17.99 each. Upon hearing about the problem your having, I quickly paused the video and went to my spare room where I work on my projects and to my disappointment found both bottles were half evaporated and both bottles of 2K hardener were rock solid, which is unfortunate because I didn't get a chance to even use them. Will Gundum Pros be issuing a refund on this product, or replacing them with bottles that are not defective?

If it'd real headlights you want to paint, there's not many hobby type paintd that will work. I personally released a polished alloy paint that's durable because it's a pure lacquer. I posted a video on that here
