Tested: Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition Adventure Bike

Ever since Husqvarna’s Norden 901 appeared as a concept bike at Europe’s EICMA show back in 2019, the thing has sure generated a bunch of hype. And why wouldn’t it? After all, this machine represents Husky’s first genuine foray into the adventure bike market. But it’s fair to say that the Norden 901’s recently released up-specced version - the Norden 901 Expedition - has taken that hype to an all-new level.
So, what up-specced and additional components does the 901 Expedition come with? Can its $2000 price tag premium over the ‘standard’ model be justified? And does this machine’s bolstered off-road capabilities come at the expense of tarmac touring comfort?
To answer those questions and more, we took a couple of Norden 901 Expeditions for a three-day ... well, expedition ... on some of the NSW south coast’s best tarmac twisties and off-road trails.

Hi guys, fantastic review :) Just to have an idea, how tall are you? I know the expedition is a tall bike, do you suggest a minimum height to be able to put the feet down with confidence?

I’m 6’2 and im on balls of feet with both legs and the seat in low position
If you had to choose one would you pick this over an adventure r? I can get the ktm discounted but when i consider the farkles on the 901 they're the same price really... Makes picking between the two difficult

I test rode both wishing to upgrade from a KTM 790 Adv R. I ended up buying the 890 Adv R. It was not an easy choice as the upgrades to bring an 890 to Norden Exp levels cost quite a bit. But for preference , I prefer the 'sit on top' attach style of the KTM than the 'sit in' style of the Husky. If you tour more, you will benefit from the ready to go upgrades of the Nordern. If you attack gravel more than the KTM will be the better choice.
