The last Constructor to win the title (Both Drivers & Constructors), by merely fielding a GROUP A - Spec rally car vs. the might of specialized WRC-spec rally cars. Well, Group A8 & WRC are very identical in specs & performance, BTW. The only time Makinen won a driver's title, along with a constructor's title (Courtesy of the late great Richard Burns) The late great Richard Burns, who really did a splendid performance for Mitsubishi (2 Wins), would find success with Subaru, in 1999-2001 (2001 WRC Champion)

I agree with you on Burns. Burns was the only teammate that could stand his own against Makinen. Loix is not that bad of a driver, but the Mitsubishi was clearly not the right car for him.

Still wondering what are the actual difference between WRC vs group A car and how the hell Tommi still winning in Group A Lancer in 2001?

@@radityaindera3442 If you open the rulebook, one of the significant and noticeable to the eye difference is less restricted suspension geometry and travel configuration in WRC cars compared to A8. It's obvious how 206 and Impreza just swallow those bumps on tarmac like they're nothing compared to Lancer.

This car was originally an Evo IV unless they built a new car and reregistered it.

Am with ya there Mr Treminuti, test car looks far better plain white than the '98 championship rally liveried Evo 5. For me, the 5's the best looking Evo, closely followed by the 6 /6.5, but their rally livery was better in '99, '00 & '01 though. Good to see this, thanks for posting Ralisasul!
