Lombardo is dumbass why joining if you leave after 1 year Testament isn't just another gig...do an album like they normally said they will

Great line-up of Testament

Testament as always puts on another killer performance. I hate to split hairs yet the last 2 times I saw Testament was Summer of 2015 with Exodus and Spring of 2016 with Slayer and Carcass. Dave Lombardo is pioneer when it comes to this style of drumming. He's a legend and plays like he's breathing. He's that good. Yet I feel Gene Hoglan was a bit more powerful and instinctively knew exactly what to play and when to play it. While Dave Lombardo fits very well just not AS well IMHO. All in all great band, each musician is top level and Chuck does nothing but get better as a vocalist and frontman.

I agree. No surprise tho, it's Gene Hoglan.

Unfortunately, 2020 was cancelled. The last time I saw them live was in 1990. Chuck did an excellent stage dive right on top of me. 🥴 Looking forward to June! Think that won't happen again... 😆

I sure miss Gene Hoglan behind the kit.

Gene is a monster of a drummer but man Testament sounds so good with Lombardo. Lombardo doesn't use triggers which gives Testament a raw and heavy sound.

@Metal Head I agree, you still need a lot of talent and practice to play drums even with triggers but triggers makes the sound too artificial and I like my metal to sound raw and heavy.

I believe Gene Hoglan in testament was the greatest they ever sounded IMHO. Incidentally the first time I ever saw Testament was in 2003 and coincidentally their drummer at the time was Paul Bostaph and he nailed it. Dave Lombardo is an excellent choice don't get me wrong however with Gene and Steve as the once Testament rhythm section when I last saw them in 2015 and 2016 I thought this is easily the greatest rhythm section in all of Thrash Metal hands down. David is good but not as good for Testament as Gene sorry but there isn't much of a comparison.

I felt the same in a weird way, cause I respect his work on the few albums, he’s done with them. Especially The Brotherhood Of The Snake and Titans. It is cool though to hear Lombardo’s approach to those songs. Lombardo definitely has him, in the swing department. Great footage!

Lombardo amazing

I went to see them in a small club in dallas years ago when alex was gone, they came and because the club didnt have people to unload their equipment. They left. And a local band called Dead Industry came on and hour notice and killed it. I was also tripping balls so they might have sucked lol. Still love em and still want to see them ...
