I just like to listen and try to retain some new knowledge. I dont hold up against people this smart in any subject. 😂
Nicely done Dan, very entertaining and everyone was a good sport. Hope to see it again next year.
4:30 The owner of the Shackleton Cat (without giving the answer away) was Harry McNish who is buried in Wellington, NZ. There is a small statue of the cat on his grave, added in 2004.
I go to Georgia State and have had the pleasure of hearing Nick Wildings story from himself. He is banned from the Vatican for making a similar discovery towards one of their Galileo documents. Super cool guy!
Greetings from Australia. Really loved this. Any possibility quizzes like this could become regular features? Please, pretty please, she begs. Sooooo much better than the drivel on tv. Happy new year everyone.

Thank you for this quiz game, was very entertaining and engaging to watch. I feel we got to know our historian hosts a little more too.
This was fun, I think you guys all have great chemistry
This was a load of fun! I wouldn't, however, want to be in competition with Prof. Lipscombe.
ANOTHER OF THESE!!!
My husband and I were going head to head on this, (him a past ships captain, me a European historian). So much fun! Thanks!
This is fun!!
This is really entertaining.
This was fun!! I hope there’s another one! Team Alice! lol
The collective noun for a group of historians is ''an argument". Well done guys, and have a sexy new year.
Susannah Lipscombe is so ridiculously beautiful. She could have stepped straight out of a painting by Millais or Waterhouse. 😍 Really enjoyed this - more quizzes please!
Literally my dream come true would be to spend an extended pub night with this crew
Great format.
This was fabulous!! More please!!
In honor of the Pedants, I have to point out the E in the Japanese Edo period is pronounced like the E in Edward. Good content though. Looking forward to more.
Great fun quiz!😀 Also particularly nice of Flourish and Blotts to let you record the quiz in their shop 😁
well done
OMG! Normally on quizzes I am terrible but I actually got lots right on this one!
Thank you amazing people. Happy holidays. XO
yep, wife and I loved this.

Great fun, this! And, oh my, Suzannah is such a beautiful woman. Brains & beauty. 😍

21:30 - Made famous...by Sejanus.
At 5000 years ago, would Doggerland (or any portion thereof) still have been extant? Referring to approx. 2 min. in.
This game show should be more of a regular feature it's interesting competitive informative and fun
"died without product" 😂
The order is second and last but one
Good show ,I did ok
I enjoyed this, thanks. Could you add proper subtitles to videos, please? Auto-generated subtitles often don't get names right. For example, "Judas Caesar" instead of "Julius Caesar" and "ciao chesku" instead of "Ceaușescu" in this video
Very good! Heartening that I could on a very few questions get it. Even better when my bad guesses mirrored theirs! Great fun!
Great quiz and some amazing vintage synths in the background. Where was this filmed?
That was cool and this set is amazing!
Lovely
I actually knew several of these.
I got Ivan the terrible, Did anyone else get a question right that the team didn’t get then feel like a history genius? Just me…
I do hope that they read up on the answers that they've missed, because history is fascinating. Diogenes lived an extremely interesting life: He debased coins with his father (that was the first clue) until he was exiled from his birthplace Sinope, which was regarded as a more extreme punishment than death. Then he went to Athens and became an ascetic social critic who spoke out when people relied on blind faith and traditions rather than used their heads. Later he was captured by pirates and sold as a slave in Crete, where he is supposed to have mocked Alexander to his face. The Palace of the Parliament is also very interesting. Ceausescu's megalomania was so huge that it boggles the mind. More than 700 architects, 5,000 soldiers and 100,000 "volunteers" worked on its building during which they've levelled 7 square kms of the old city centre. Today it houses both the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament, the National Museum of Contemporary Art, an office for the Regional Southeast European Cooperative Initiative Centre for Fighting Transborder Crime, plus many governmental organisations hold their events there and still 70% of it is unused.

I was wondering if the Ceausescu palace would come up when they started the 'how many rooms' round. Wasn't it built as his personal palace though? Heating bills must be a nightmare :)

I suspect the heating bill doesn't ammount to much where he is !
Damn! Is that Harry and Merkle?
thank you , see you in 23
The question about the pope, she got right. The pope has always claimed to be infallible in matters of faith and doctrine, claiming the Holy Spirit guides him, but it was only until 1870 that the teaching of infallibility was made doctrine, meaning that it was something to be believed by every Catholic and was not open to debate.
fun
👍👍👍
The lack of Dan Jones in this makes me sad. At least Susannah is here
The thing about Polish cavalry charging German tanks is actually kinda true. Initially they charged a German infantry position but they didn't realise there was German armour behind the infantry, who then drove the cavalry back
@MRKapcer13
Жыл бұрын
That's hardly true then. They didn't charge tanks, they charged infantry, and in that particular engagement they successfully routed the German infantry which is why the tanks got involved.
When I hear..I killed my oldest son my mind goes to Ivan the terrible . Enjoyed it so much. There should be more of these.
Yay, so many more NON-American events, whew. Like Graham Norton , but without the swearing. Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
apparently the quiz is just ring in till you come up with the right answer
Awesome awesome stuff!
