Was thinking of getting a KTM, EXC or even a 690r...but then i saw the price, spoty reliability, and insane maintenance intervals...and i knew i had to get a WR250R

This test was what convinced me to buy a WR250R. I'm basing my mods on this over time. The competition was a DRZ400E but this convinced me to go with the smaller but more modern bike with what appears to also have better build quality. Pretty much watched all your vids and find them instructive and entertaining. Keep up the good work and advice.

Super smooth motor, huge redline on those so a big range of gearing you can run, I mean weight is everything in off road riding, so even if you give up a bit of highway performance it would be superior to the big displacement heavy bikes off road, not to mention full 320mm forks, they are just such crazy smooth motorcycles, great brakes, clutch, all that stuff

+Kingsoupturbo I'm currently putting together my review of the bike. It is impressive and I could see myself doing a decent international adventure ride on one. Many riders who have bought big would have a heap of fun on this bike. But I must admit I do like the flexibility of my 690.

@@nyedavis922 Can confirm, I had a Honda 100 as a kid and rode that bike for over a decade without any issues, often times very far from home. As an adult I have a Honda 250 that I have ridden out into the NV desert without issues, and it would have literally killed me if I broke down out there. Wouldn't trust other brands with my life like that.

I have to admit that as I have the opportunity to ride more bikes, I trend towards the smaller displacement bikes. The large bikes are great for what they do but I love a smaller bike I can throw around.

+ThisLifeRiding If someone brings out a 500 single with half decent suspension a comfortable seat, small fairing, a decent fuel range and spoked wheels, they would clean up! I can't see a trend towards smaller bikes, but I can see a greater proportion of people heading to the smaller capacity, particularly if they are as this 250.

greetings from the states ! great video thanks for posting it . i must have watched every review yet haha.. looking to possibly buy one of these lil 250s . I'm coming off of a 1991 suzuki rmx250 . i loved the bike but looking to find something i can ride on the road to the abundance of trails in my area without hassle. I'm 35 . 6' 4" tall and weigh 240 . my main concern would be this bike being under powered for me and small amount of gear . i would beef up springs etc like i even had to do on my rmx . I'm not looking to hit doubles or anything crazy just some highway and tons of single track & hill climbs . i feel as i might be a gorilla on a tricycle with this bike . I'm between this or a drz400 . what would be your opinion of a person my size on a 250 such as this ?

Do you have an opinion on the suitability of the WR250F or X models for adventure riding like you do with the WR250R? They have better suspension and are 35/40 pounds lighter. Thx.

Between Wr250r and DR650 which one would suits to ride with a pillion passenger better on and off the road? I would appreciate if anyone who has experience with these bikes share their experience.... I had a ktm 690enduro and sold it as I was sick of unreliability of it...

Mate, I sold my 690 last week, and now I have Honda XR650R. They are damn cheap around 3-4K and reliable like a tractor. You will be much happier and It has the same power as KTM690 ... first and second gear twist the throttle and its wheels... Previously I had 2016 BMW 12000GS, Africa Twin and KTM 690& 1090 in 2017. Now I feel this XR is worth more than any of those... The new bikes are unreliable and I just sick of fixing them. That was my pure personal experience without bias.

I always hear people refer to these as bulletproof, but at 12,500km I wouldn't expect any issues on anything remotely road oriented. Here's a hypothetical question: If the engine of an WR250R is only good for about 40,000km, and a 690E is good for 60,000km then are there really any savings if you go for the WR? I feel like something like the 690E would be a much better compromise all around, but want to know what others think. I have a 2005 625SXC but I'm getting tired of tracking down oil leaks and the bike is supposedly at 36,000km. Can the WR beat that for reliability?
