Tessa Thompson - She Is In West World - Her Only Appearance [1080p]

Комедия

She was great in west world, it's hard NOT to notice the apparent novicesness of her acting when she is acting alongside Anthony Hopkins, but fared well! Enjoy!

Wow. Really. Wow, wow, wow. What a lovely person. I've been binge-watching Craig's show during COVID, because of course!!, and he is the master at not only bringing out the best of people but the most genuine-osity. But Tessa! Wow. She really comes across as already the best and the most genuine before Craig even gets going. It's like he really had nothing to do here. She's already where he is so good at getting people to go. This was way fun!

They were talking about gentrification of NY as if it were a good thing. It drives up the cost of business and rent. All it does is drive out minorities and bring in hipsters. It forces people into slums and further away from their original neighborhood. Alot of the mom & pop businesses can't compete and so they close down. It hurts the economy, bc it puts more money into the pockets of corporations (like Starbucks and Panera) and out of small business (like smaller cafes and bakeries). It hurts the lower and middle class, and creates wider wealth disparity as a result.

She talks about race and now she's playing a character based off of Norse mythology. Is that black washing?

Do you know what white washing means? It doesn't mean merely a person playing a character of different race or ethnicity than their own. It is when a non-white character, say like Ghost in the Shell, is turned into the majority race to make it more palatable or economically advantageous. It is just an example of any form of ethnocentrism, when a society sees or projects its collective vision onto others. It's not necessarily bad or evil, just part of how majorities operate.

ryan leone As a Black woman, I know what this term "White washing" is. I also know that the example that you used isn't a good one. The "Ghost in the Shell" movie example is bad because the character was Asian to begin with, but the Android body (Scarlett Johansson's character) was not. So, that is not exactly the same thing. The human was Asian, same as the character in the manga (same as her mother, etc...). But, the android body was not. I know that in the manga, the android was also given an Asian look. But it's an android. Now, this character (Valkyrie) is a Caucasian character. Her parents would have been Caucasian, any siblings would have been Caucasian, everyone associated with her in a familial way would have been a Caucasian, etc... Also, the Norse mythology associated with these creatures are Caucasian. To make them any other race, or nationality at all would be race-washing. The same as making Thor a female in the comics, this is just social justice nonsense. These are classical characters. While fictional, still they have historical relevancy. Now, that isn't to say that there wouldn't be a few out side of the Caucasian race in a tribal band here, or there. But, I implore you to look throughout Norse, Swedish, Scandinavian, or any of the historical writings of the North Germanic countries; archeological findings, paintings, or whatever you can find; you won't find many dark, or brown-skinned people. Just saying...

Casanova Frankenstein So, I would say the only thing more embarrassing is some racist asshat saying to a Black woman that "You aren't Black" because she doesn't agree with you, and calling her a racist, then calling her outside of her own race just because she won't bow down to you, and your ideology. So, no I would say you are the one that is an embarrassment. And, you're too ignorant to even see it! And, you're probably too prideful and stupid to admit it.

Casanova Frankenstein As for Leto not being in the movie. Yes, I got that character wrong. But, God damn. That's all you got! After being such a racist asshat. Damn! Take the white sheets off dude, get off of the stormfront page, and just take a chill pill.

Social justice nonsense. I knew it. I knew your response was going to be some anti-liberal trite nonsense. First these characters are based off of a comic, that yes is loosely based off Norse and Germanic mythology, but I still don't think you understand what whitewashing means, even if you are African American. Like I said, it is not just about people playing characters of different races than their own; there needs to be a history of it as an example of racial stereotyping, i.e. Mickey Rooney as an asian in Breakfast at Tiffany's, and two, it needs to serve the purpose of rewriting history solely through the lens of the majorities' cultural beliefs and value systems. From your definition the entire cast of Thor is guilty of race-washing(if that's even a term?) since none of them are Germanic or Scandinavian. Yes, they are caucasian but the Caucasus are what we would now call eastern Europe to Greece. Are you saying that only people who are 100 percent native to the geographical area of their characters can play those roles? Is the race of Valkyrie at all pertinent to her character? In this movie's universe it definitely is not, since we already have actors from different ethnicities playing Norse gods. So what I'm saying is two things: Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie is not an example of black-washing because that does not exist and two, it doesn't matter because the character's race, as evidenced in the movie's set universe, is not integral to her portrayal.
