I tried a Maggini once a few decades ago, back when they cost less than $100,000. It was incredibly easy to play in tune, and had a sound like chocolate syrup. Not my first choice, but a great example for someone who wanted that.
Wow that Maggini really sings and resonates on the lower strings though it sound wonderful and complex on the E as well! I love the timbre, it's so different compared to the strad copies we're all used to hearing which tend to be much brighter and favor the higher strings
Tessa is a fantastic player. Her and the Maggini are a great match. Not to mention those boots!

Aha! Ikr!?
I came here trying to learn more about what Gasparo da Salo and his ‘school’ was about-in sound; the part of the violin that matters the most. Maggini, being a product of the da Salo (or Bertolotti) school in Brescia, will have constructed the kind of violin similar to his teacher, contra the Andrea Amati style. The Amati sound is relatively far brighter and scintillating, for sure, but the expert (Elmanian) rendition of the Dvořák on this kind of instrument, that has a throaty, almost viola-esque timbre on the G-string, is perfect! This is certainly a great demonstration of what the genius of this Brescian violin maker brings to the fore.
I absolutely agree with her.. I love the sound of this violin
Luscious playing, a very interesting and characterful sound.
Thank You. No words.....😍
Wow, its sound is so dark and powerful that a lot of people would think she was playing a viola!

Wow...who needs a Strad or Del Gesú with that sound! Obviously her hands have a lot to do as well...
I, being a fiddler, am sometimes asked "is this a violin or a fiddle" I respond "yes". I LOVE Tessa style mixing violinish tunes and fiddley diddley things... oh yes ..she's a pretty lady also...

@@masumirostad Completely agree ! Bows have a lot of history that’s worth uncovering as well :P
bagus sekali ! matur suksma
great to hear a type of sound quality, that a Strad or del Gesu doesn't have to offer! Henri Marteau performed during his career on his teacher Hubert Leonard's Maggini, but from his old recordings, one doesn't get a clear idea of the Maggini sound.

Yes, I completely agree! Is this just the violist’s perspective though?

Yes, of course, that might have influenced my preference for this dark and rich sound.@@masumirostad

Right? It was made so early that so little was standardized. I wonder how many “violins” existed in 1600…

@@masumirostad I know yeah , there are so much to learn about history , I always curious about how they made violins hundreds years ago , this violin could survive until today it’s incredibly unbelievable 😱👏👍😇😍🙏
If that isnt love then what is the damn stuff? Youve got the finest violin in the world. But thats just my opinion. IM TRULY HAPPY FOR YOU. I THINK MAGINI TRUMPS STRADIVARI HANDS DOWN. PAUL MAGINI, YOUR THE GREATEST! AND TESSA, HOPE TO HEAR YOU IN CONCERT ONE DAY. THANKS!

Sorry, I don’t understand…
Hom much this violin cost?
I thought it would be as deep sounding as say a late Guarneri, but it is not. It is sort of more fundamental sounding with less overtone compared to a Strad, maybe more even in dynamic range as well, but I don't know about the player. But it is really resonant sounding. Is it a "less loud" violin in person as rumour suggests?
Wow! Its like a whurlitzer on steroids! Love your sound Tessa. BELLISIMA!
SHE BLOWS ME AWAY WITH HER MAGINNI, NOTHING CAN TOUCH HER. THAT INSTRUMENT IS HER FAMILLIAR! AND SHE HAS DYNAMITE TEACHING METHOD IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PRACTICE HER METHOD OF WRIST VIBRATO. HER VIBRATO METHOD IS ROCK SOLID. SHE HAS MADE ME CONFIDENT WITH THE ENDEAVOR of studying vibrato. I AM CONVINCED SHE IS CERTAINLY ONE OF THE BEST TEACHERS OF VIOLIN. SIMPLY BECAUSE VIBRATO IS SO VERY PORTANT TO MODERN VIOLIN STYLE. I ALSO LIKE HER POSITIVE ATYITUDE! SHE IS THE GODDESS OF THE VIOLIN HANDS DOWN. IF YOUR LUCKH ENOUGH TO HAVE HER TEACH YOU IN PERSON, I SAY GO FOR IT. I HAVE NOT HAD THAT PRIVALEGE EXCEPT HER WONDERFUL VIDIO OVER THE CELL PHONE. I DONT CARE IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE A SUCK UP, I WOULD DEARLY LOVE TO BE INSTRUCTED BY HER. I LIKE HUMOROUS WHITTY TEACHERS, BECAUSE GOD KNOWS THE VIOLIN IS DIFFICULT FOR ANY MERE MORTAL! TESSA, IF YOUR OUT THERE LISTENING. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOUR : CHELLO METHOD OF VIOLIN VIBRATO PRACTICE AGAIN. IF NOT I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER, KNOCK, ROCK, ROLL. AND HINGE AT THE RT. UPPER BOUT ON THE FLESHY PART OF THE LEFT PALM. BLESS YOU TESSA, SORRY IF IVE STEPPED ON YOUR TOES. I BELIEVE A GREAT TEACHER SHOULD BE HONOURED, AND IM SORRY IF IVE EMBARRADED YOU. APPOLOGIES FOR THE COMPUTER TWISTING OF MY WORDS.♡♡♡

In the parlance of Mic Jagger, Tessa I LOVE you! My apologies to Mr. MICHAEL JAGGER I DONT CLAIM TO BE YOU NOR FOR YOU EVER HAVING SAID THOSE WORDS; MERELY A PARRODY AND NO MIC DID NOT SAY THAT. I C.E. SAID THAT TO DEMONSTRATE MY AFFECTION FOR MISS LARKS SOUND.
A beautiful violin indeed, I'm glad Tessa loves the complexity of the sound. For my personal taste, I would prefer something more brilliant, but this is the beauty of it all, we all have a different sound ideal.
