You mean a rubber base to absorb the wobble ? If so , you can’t, the main shaft and bearing are at the bottom, They actually cut the bottom plate so the generator is flush with the exterior. I’m from the world of aviation, it has to be in tune and balanced. Thanks for the suggestion.

Awesome video! I just got my Solar + Powerwall (x2) installed, and want to go full electric. Currently I have a natural gas central air furnace, and I’m curious why you picked electric floor heating instead of air supply or ground supply heat pump? Thanks!

Back in 2006 I decided when we were refurbishing our house to do it one room at a time. it took a eight year period, I decided to go with electric hydronic baseboard heating and power the house completely with solar and then eventually with the Tesla powerwalls coming out. Then deciding to wait until Elon puts out a charger that would use our batteries from our car also as a backup power source.I didn't want to burn natural gas any longer either.

awesome video man, any way to run these powerwalls without their backup gateway etc which to me is no more then a big ATS with computing. I ask cause i have a lead on a used one that works but it has not backup gateway?

Not sure you can, you would have to be a techie, to hack the computer side of it. The gate way has the mother board that controls everything. The comm cable goes from the gate way to the first power wall then a jumper, daisy chain after that to the next one in line. I plan on redoing the video, took a lot of slack from the crowd for my words towards my kid, more in the back ground that was in video. Plus I can edit video now, add more detailed info. Not sure if you know, But there's a video out there with this "Switch" that installs before the meter and some how feeds the power wall, I asked the guy on youtube, but he wasn't sure how it works, Sounded like a work around to the gateway. worth watching

Can you tell me more about the inverter specs and what other things are in the powerwall 2 has inside?

  • @Themachinewon

What I showed you on the video, is the most in depth you’ll see on the internet. The guts of the gateway. As stated in the video, the PowerWalls are sealed. Not user serviceable .. you feed the power walls with 220 / 30amp breaker. Two legs 120v each. The battery controller is sealed inside. Their manual has no specs on the guts. Just plug and play. Once it’s synced with the gateway, the computer takes over and controls charging and discharging .

@@Themachinewon I'm so jealous. I have a 12.6kw pv system that I installed myself 5 years ago. I might be considering installing the powerwalls myself with their direct shipment option. My question to you is I thought the powerwalls needed to be wired in parallel in order to achieve the increased amp output? Would a jumper or daisy chain configuration be needed (L1 from PW1 connected to L1 of PW2 and same of L2) before running back up to the breakers? Forgive my ignorance.

@@montevincent1567 I'll double check with my Electrician, but if I recall correctly, each power wall unit is wired directly to a 30amp breaker, the computer board in the gate way controls the charging and discharge rates. Great question, I'm going to find out..

@@Themachinewon Yes, that is correct. I was thinking of wiring DC batteries, but this is AC coming out so they're essentially "paralleled" once connected to the generation panel via the breaker. The PW computer is what recognizes the load and evenly distributes the output from the three inverters.

Com and power not separated in a electrical box? Why not run it separately, trying to save the cost of a extra j-box?

  • @Themachinewon

    @Themachinewon

    4 жыл бұрын

It’s separate all the way, until it has to go into the battery junction box built into the powerWall . So the shielded comm wire has to go into the same conduit as the #10 wire feeding the battery. You can’t run two conduit tubes to the powerwall. So for me, it makes sense to run it from the power panel right to the batteries. Now if you think about it, do you think I was trying to save on a plastic box, if that was even a thought, I would have put the batteries in my basement about 6 feet from my gateway, call me crazy, I ran 145 ft of # 2 wire. X2, Plus 145 ft of #6 wire, copper. Where do you see me saving any cost ? If you knew me, you would know I don’t cut cost on anything... Buy Once, cry once... and I’m open to any suggestions on how to run it , as I’m not a “schooled” electrician .

  • @Themachinewon

Well I’m assuming since it feeds AC power to the house it’s 120 V 60 Hz on a 30 amp circuit. That’s the max amperage each battery has a breaker for. They’re set up to take a charge to 10 gauge wire only. And output through the same wires. 30 amp breaker.

@@Themachinewon wierd. its a battery right? is the inverter and battery inside the power wall? if so I thought it was only a battery. Im trying to buy an inverter and it states it only works with tesla powerwall. but that would be wrong if the inverter is in the powerwall.

Rodney Mobley The power wall has a built-in inverter & batteries and cooling system with fans. Totally sealed non-serviceable. Has an AC input/output & COM connector for communications between that and the gateway. You do not use A exterior inverter

That was a (bricked) Gen1 Powerwall. So, there is no waste of money, he opened the pack himself, and showed it to the world out of curiosity. He then tried to bring life back into the 2 modules inside (after removing them) but had no luck.
