I started liking the yoke steering wheel ever since I test drove a refreshed Plaid Model X a few months ago. Recently, I saw that TesPlus offers a gorgeous white PU/nappa leather yoke steering wheel for Model 3 & Model Y and couldn't help to get it for my 2018 Model 3. In this video I share with you the quality of the yoke replacement and the entire installation process. It took about 20-25 minutes to replace and install the steering wheel.

Great video! I recently switched to the yoke on my Model 3 and I just transferred it to my Model Y. I love it.

I tried to install my yoke. But did a stupid mistake when I tried to pull off the steering wheel forgot to take out the horn clip and I pull off the whole thing. And now tesla service charged me $513 to replace the steering column control module…. Got scared to retry again to install it…. Please be careful when you try to pull off the steering off…. And wish You posted this great installation video look so easy and one of the best that I watched few days ago…..

Looking good Joy! I truly love the yoke steering wheel too, and I am about to trade up to a Tesla Model S dual motor all-wheel-drive, L/R battery pack. Can’t wait to get it. Thank you for posting. I’ve researched this quite a bit and some videos they say to disconnect the battery, but I don’t see this step being done in the front trunk of your video. Did they do it? I think I can do this myself. Also, I like your diamond tesla logo.

Not at all. It was an easy swap.
Depending on the wheel I just swapped my center to the new yoke.
I wonder if I should definitely move the buttons from my steering wheel?

Have had the Yoke wheels on my M3 and my wife’s MY for 3 years and would not go back to a conventional wheel. I have the black to match my interior and my wife has the white to match her white interior with the red exterior.
Where did you go to get the steering wheel replaced with the yoke? I’m in the SoCal/Culver City area. Great video!

Awesome video Joy! This made me consider wanting to upgrade to a yoke steering wheel now. But I wonder how long it will take me to get used to it. I test drove a Model S Plaid yesterday and the yoke felt so odd for me lol.

How much was this? From "fruition" to end. UPDATES?
I think the factory torque spec for the center nut is 42 ft-lb, not 25-30...

I've watched half a dozen yoke videos or so by now, and it appeared that not all yoke install is the same. This one looked way more involved - to the point of ... should I be even thinking of doing it myself ?

I did myself. I also want an easy swap back into the original steering wheel so I sourced an OEM steering wheel off eBay and transfered all the guts from that one to my custom yoke. I also swapped over my airbag. So extra work to set up but now I just unbolt and change over when I need to.

While I am a guy, I also don’t like Carbon Fiber. Something about the grid block I find distracting and unappealing.

Wow! A yolk in a non-drive-by-wire car is taxing. There is no way I would even consider a yolk until drive-by-wire is in that car. Absolutely not. * YOKE! lol
