My switch didn't mechanically break. Y'all need to be careful doing any kind of detailing on your car. If you get any liquid in the switch it will act super funky. I pulled my switch out thanks to your video, cleaned up the arcing on the circuit board and it's as good as new thanks

Just did mine today. $20 on EBay. Couple of things for future people: 1. REMOVE THE OLD BUTTON ASSEMBLY BEFORE UNHOOKING THE WIRE - ITS WAYYYY EASIER TO GET IT OUT 2. Don't bother with the "little pin" It's not a pin and it doesnt compress. Just hit the clips on the front side like he said and push the whole assembly down way harder than you think you should have to. Then you can easily access the cable and just wiggle it out. Kudos to OP tho: 1. This way is SO much easier than taking the door apart. this made the difference between me doing this myself and not. 2. the best way to "find" the two clips holding the assembly in place is to look at the location of the ones on the new one, because you can't see sh*t up in that tiny space. line it up by comparison and use feel to find the clip (there is open space on either side of the clip), get your little screwdriver to either side, pry with the screw driver, and push down firmly with your hand from above. You'll notice the button assembly will dip ever so slightly in the corner whose clip you just undid. with the above, this truly would have been a 10 minute job had i known all the above. at the end of the day, tho, 20$ vs $200+ is a no-brainer. Thanks so much OP!

Went to Tesla service center , they had it in stock. Went home and watched that guys KZread video on the door replacement switch and then read the comments that the door does not have to be removed. So that’s why I made my video

Respect for video. I have problem with rear left and read right door window button. Left felt totaly inside and right is ond the way. Both buttons are workin, problem is plastic. I am not sure how to fix it.

Just remember, everything is manufactured to fail. Because we want lighter weight, more economy, more miles for everything so, With that , manufacturers, have to make everything, cheaper thinner. lighter metals, alloys and plastics. Which will fail. Don’t waste your time just order two new switches and install them.

@@Themachinewon I solved a problem. Buttons was ok, but plastic case which hold them was broken. Poor material and retard concept. If you want, I can sent you some picture to understand the problem. See you.

looks like a lot of 2018 Model 3 has a broken window switch. Tesla really cut corners where they can.

I wouldn’t say it’s Tesla, every manufacturer that wants to get better mileage and performs from a car makes everything lightweight and our society has gone to plastic. Normally functions pretty well, but some things need to be a little more heavy duty for wear and tear. Im sure it was an outside manufacturer that made this switch for Tesla to their specs, but not the materials they made it from. I know from past experience with Tesla if the failure rate happens too much Tesla drops that manufacturer and switches suppliers.
