The trailer going nuts behind the Sienna 😂
It was drawing 280kW before it stopped. Perhaps the truck is trying to get 350 and the charger is trying to get it there until it throws some kind of fault. Then once the truck gets to the slower part of the charge curve, it no longer tries to pull over the limit.

I dont know why, but this video made me really stoked today. I think it's because it reminds me of some of the older videos of when I first followed your channel and you were doing tons of road trips. Thank you for keeping us on your journeys!
Yes! Classic OOS motoring road trip videos!
Some stats on these trips would be nice. Either at the end of the video, comments, or description. Something easy to read and digest.
I love all your videos, but I really enjoy your road trips. It's what brought me to your channel.
A great video. Amazing starting with winter conditions and ending with 91 degrees of heat.
The v3 SuperCharger that Kyle mentions in the video is likely going to be kiboshed

I always enjoy your videos. Thanks! I have a question; I plan on leaving my 2024 MY LR in my garage and not using it for 3 months. I plan on keeping it plugged in to my home charger level 2 (240V) charger and setting the battery limit to 50%. Do you think this is the best way to keep a Tesla in long term storage? Thank you.
🎉❤ Love the roadtrip videos!
Seeing the CT getting really good speed on Electrify America is a good thing, I’m hoping that means the EA people can handle J3000 adoption as well as moving to CCS2.

The sharp angle he had the charging cable at was probably restricting the liquid cooling. That is most likely why it derated and shut off and restarted.

Btw in Baja mode you can go do medium suspension at high speeds, if I'm not mistaken.
I’m really glad you emphasize the he public charging aspects in your coverage so much. My impression is from driving a model 3 and rarely using them and times have changed, the trucks and various brands really stress these more and they need to keep pushing. Can’t understand yet why they let the whole team go
Since you mentioned the rustic ring when do we get to see the other evs (rivian, f150) on it.
I had the same experience at Richfield with it stopping and starting. Mine only happened once or twice. It was in early April.
I was just a couple days behind you from Windsor to Moab and Sand Hollow, as part of a 10k mile one month road trip in my R1S.
Give that little Sleepy Hollow motel a try sometime, I’ve used it three times and found it excellent. Nothing like having your car right in front of your room!

I am not 100% certain. But I believe it had to do with the fact that he had the charging cable at a sharp angle. It was restricting the water cooling on the cable. Which was causing it to heat up and trip and restart.
Great video.. why don't you want fsd on your cyber truck? Are you going to ever sign up for it?

@LordTimelord

You misunderstood him. He does want it, however it's going to take Tesla a few months for the AI to learn the different camera positions on the Cyber truck. Once the AI training clusters work on all the video that's being uploaded from everybody cyber trucks. They will eventually release it and update to the trucks and enable it. There are two reasons why Kyle's cyber truck has a huge phantom drain on the battery. The first is Sentry Mode is constantly triggering from all the people looking at the truck. The second is Tesla has all the Cyber trucks uploading video from everybody driving them. That's so they can use the new supercomputing cluster to analyze all the different camera positions on that vehicle. The AI needs to learn how to use/adapt to the new camera angles for full self-driving.
DUDE! Ditch the snacks and take nuts on your travels. Better food and probably cheaper (not to mention, healthy). Stevie-sweetened drinks are a good alternative to popular soft drinks.
Kyle, how about some windshield cleaning videos?
Are you able to install steam on the computer? That would be a great way to waste time waiting for it to charge.
It will be interesting too see how the charging curve changes with the upcoming update for the Cybertruck.
1:13:30 The last time I took my M3 to a place that had valet parking, I didn't even get through the gate when the valet yelled at me, "Hey, Tesla. You park over there. I don't want to drive that thing." Lol, I got a sweet spot and his jaw dropped when I used summon to pull the car forward so I could get back into it later.
Did part of this drive but from Vegas, it's a bummer the CT can't go 'more' distance than my 2018LRrwd model 3. For an actual road trip, with its current range/battery capacity/charging curve it would cost more AND take longer to do the same trip that's doable even in a standard range model 3...I guess the trade off is it can carry move, but then factor in actually towing ~100miles range towing 6klbs+ for 100% charge is rough for a long/longer distance tow.
Great video Kyle, I have a consumption question: please list all the snacks you ate per 1,000 miles?

You could choose cooler weather stations to charge during summer. Keep the fast charging longer.
These charging issues have been with the Cybertruck all along. Superchargers don't have these issues with other Teslas. Ever. Its curve and charging in general needs to be worked on as a whole.

Ironically it charged the best on CCS Electrify America with what I’ll call the CyberCCS Adapter. Maybe Kyle should sell it.
I wonder if the jump in arrival percent was related to being under the canopy? It jumped up as soon as you pulled out from under it.
@LordTimelord

That's definitely possible that the canopy was messing with his GPS position.
What about AC chargers at hotels? It is super convenient charging while you sleep. They should roll out way more AC. Also good for grid stability is there is bi directional charging.

Plan out the trip in ABRP rather than using Tesla navigation.
It would be nice if they release an update that allows us to remove a charger along our route instead of selecting "End Trip". That way it can recalculate how much state of charge is needed to get to that station. Maybe other that using ABR, I have always wanted the ability to filter stations on a trip. Say I have a road trip planned, I want to be able to filter out any 120kw and 150kw stations and just navigate to 250kw stations. That would be so helpful along with being able to delete a station from your route without cancelling the entire planned route. I've seen other videos where the CT will stop charging then start back up but it doesn't continue to do it over and over like yours. It could have been too much going into the battery and the BMS just stops the battery to protect it. Since you moved from one cabinet to another it still could be the entire site but one thing you could have done is take note of your trip settings with your camera. After that do a reboot of the car then plug back in to see if the fault happens again. I say take note with the camera just in case a reboot resets some trip info. At least you'd have it on camera and could do the total trip calculations later.
Maybe clean the contacts. Your in windy sandy area. Some dirt could have blown on the contacts when you opened the charge door before you plugged in the cable

Hey Kyle I would have loved one of your tirades at the super charger that wasn’t working and kept shutting off for you to say “it’s a Tesla charging on the Tesla charger it should work like you to with I.d.4 on electrify America
Cool to see the "generic" ABB chargers actually out performing a Supercharger it's nearly always the other way around 😂
Charging per KWh has become much more expensive across the board in the last 12 months or so. The cost will be about the same for my trip from southern California to Couer d’aline Idaho, whether I take my Mach E or my Ford Explorer. So Explorer it is.
You know my Nigga I’m high asf I watched start to finish video is awesome sauce it was like I was there on the trip too 😂
I know it's probably awkward to record them, but it would be nice to see at least a couple of the interactions/reactions/questions while charging.
