I'm a lidyl fan, but I live alone and do a list before I go. Since doing this I am finding that I have no waste and keep to my budget. I even take my monthly food budget out of the bank in cash, have a food money purse and that's my limit. It's working for me and some months I don't spend it all which means the next month I don't have to get as much out of my account. Hope that makes sense, I'm sad I know but it works for me. P.S. I love hovis and grapes too 😂

I have the envelope system, not sure if you’ve heard about it. I think it’s more an American thing, but I to have a monthly food allowance envelope and I get the money out each month and that’s gonna last me the whole month.

I disagree that Tesco is expensive. I think there was something that came out today to say that Tesco is now the cheapest supermarket, 1p cheaper than Aldi/Lidl because of the clubcard. I live so close to a Tesco, we use it as our corner shop. We do our shopping mainly at Tesco, sometimes at Asda. Each to their own obviously but I could never do my whole shop at Aldi or Lidl, not for prices but mainly because we don't like the shopping experience at either. Can't beat Tesco in our opinion but that's why it's great to have such a choice of supermarkets in the UK.👍

Nice haul you have! I am based in Germany and my go to is Lidl. It has also quite a variety on the shelves compared to like 10 years ago. Aldi I felt is gotten so expensive. I remember at uni I would drive there once every month or so and come home with a carful and not an empty wallet. Homemade Hollandaise is super easy to make. Just 4 ingredients. You just need a bit of patience. Love to see what recipes you cook.

What a lot of delicious things, and excellent eating demonstrations too! What a joy to be able to buy all your favourite things and then get to eat them. Just one of the lovely things about living alone. We quite often swap where we do our shops but mostly move between Morrison's (our current fav), Sainsbury's, and Waitrose. I think that I would like Lidl and Aldi, but I haven't quite worked out where they are here, and Asda in Folkestone has a terrifyingly huge escalator to negotiate. I consider Tesco to be evil so we don't go but I freely admit that they have some nice food. An excellent shop. Thank you.

Here in Ohio, that food would have cost over 100 dollars. Food prices are outrageous here. A small bag of potatoes cost 3-4 dollars here.

Really nice haul Becky! I usually take the frozen pizza out of the box and just put it in the freezer like that to save space. It's usually wrapped in plastic so that's good but if not pop it in a freezer bag. Take care !

I shop around. Farmfoods and Iceland are great for bulk buys and special offers. Farmfoods have good online money off vouchers and Iceland/Food Warehouse do a 10% discount on Tuesday's for over 60s. I occasionally shop in Sainsbury, Aldi or Asda too, but I go to Tesco mainly for the things I can't get in farmfoods/iceland. I feel that everyone's prices are going up, but Tesco's are still well priced in comparison, especially locally. It may differ in other areas of the country though.

I've just watched. Great vid as always but I'm intrigued. What on earth are popcorn grapes? Interesting too hearing what you think of the whole Clubcard thing. Thanks for letting us know. I tend to oscillate between Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and M&S and Costco rarely. Where I go all depends on the kind of food/groceries I want. I'd love to go to Lidl more but they don't have a loo there and I have overactive bladder. And as Sod's law would have it I always end up rushing my shopping and not enjoying it as I know I'll need to go so have to pay and get out of there fast. So I haven't been for perhaps over a year. 😪 It really is no fun, one day soon I pray my overactive bladder will resolve as it's stopped me living life badly for the last 15 years. But that's a whole other story... Thanks Becky! Can't wait for the next one!

Tescos has actually come out on top above Aldi & Lidl as the cheapest due to their Clubcard prices in the most recent ‘cheapest supermarket’ comparison. Everything, everywhere has gone up lol, so the Clubcard isn’t a scam. You could say they do the same in every supermarket when something is on offer RE; hike the price up before putting on offer, but they never used to do that when I worked in retail, it just feels like that because everything is more expensive at the moment. Also worth keeping in mind what you’re buying, branded vs unbranded etc. I shop at Lidl, Tesco & Iceland (who have amazing deals on cupboard staples sometimes - I’ll also only eat Aldi’s or Icelands frozen Veggies, as I’m restricted to what ones I can eat due to health issues, & I really don’t like Tesco’s ones, I’ve found them gritty & even found bits of plastic in mine on more than 3 separate occasions!! 😫) Do you follow Mrs What’s For Tea on KZread? Scottish lady that shows amazing recipes every week, including slow cooker recipes. I’ve got some great ideas from her! No need for a blender when making your own spag Bol sauce, just throw it into mince & it breaks down. The thing with mince is you can leave it bubbling away for ages & the flavour only gets better. I use quorn mince so it’s harder to make sauces - & due to chronic disabilities I find ot easier to buy a sauce. I love Dolmio & use it as a base, I batch cook so buy the 750g jars when on offer & add onion, garlic, courgette, carrot & mushroom, let each veg cook & soften, add quorn mince, sauce, 2 veggie stock pots, salt / pepper / mixed herbs & Worcestershire sauce, let it sit & simmer & wallah! X
