Tescan Mira3 SEM: basic imaging

This will be the first in a series of an expected three videos covering operation of the Tescan Mira3 scanning electron microscope. In this video, I cover general operation of the microscope and how to use it for basic imaging purposes. The next two videos will cover using the instrument for EDS and EBSD.
Those of you who follow me for the TEM videos need not worry, I will still be filming TEM videos! However, I do oversee other instruments beside the Tecnai F20 S/TEM so I wanted to make other videos covering those instruments.

@@NicholasRudawski It would be great if you could also talk about the channeling mode present on the tescan sem in parallel to the EBSD

@@gustavocarmo5031 I've never actually used the channeling mode (though I am aware of its existence); when I do EBSD, I use resolution mode; I'll do some digging up on the mode differences for the next video.

@@NicholasRudawski Hello, just came across this video and would be VERY interested in a follow-up video especially about the channeling mode (ECP, ECCI, etc.). Is this something you are still planning?
Can you please do a video about the "particle analysis" option in the tools?
How we do to Change a Filament in this SEM , could you share a vedio about the said?

Hi Mushtaq: great question! However, as this is a FEG instrument and is under service contract, we are not allowed to perform any FEG changes, only the manufacturer is allowed to do this; I did do some thermionic emission gun filament changes on a very old TEM years ago, but none of the tools I currently oversee are thermionic emission.
