They are anti-Religion, they are anti-America, they are anti-Male, and they are anti-White. I am a black man and people should leave Liam alone and stop this fake outrage. He did nothing wrong in the end and cannot necessarily be deemed racist for how he felt. That said we cannot discount the possibility of response being driven by how blacks were percieved and treated at that time. The only question for me is if he would have reacted the same way if the alleged rapist was white? As i cannot possibly answer either way with iron clad certainty, and even if i feel he may not have, I still cannot judge him to be racist. For him to be deemed racist his overall history with black folk to date would have to be looked at.

It's quite sad knowing many people do not understand the meaning behind Liam Neeson's introspection. He was clearly looking for an output for his anger given what his friend experienced at the time. He was looking for someone to blame and looking back, it scares him because he could not fathom the fact that he could harbor such dark thoughts -- the thoughts of lashing out at random people who happen to share the same skin color as the man he truly wanted to kill. Such distress and anger can potentially make anyone that irrational. It's honestly no different from when the 9/11 attacks happened. America was looking for someone to blame and thus began an unwarranted hate for all Arabs, simply because the perpetrators of the terror attack happened to be Arab. Unfortunately, the media always like to spin and spin things to keep the viewership up. They appeal to your emotions rather than your sense of reason. It's just like making money off of war, except with words as ammunition and the media being the dealers of these weapons and ammo. And like any weapons dealer, they will play both sides. In the end, the casualties are everyone else.

He wanted to share the information to show that anybody can go through a rough patch and have twisted thoughts because of it. He also mentioned that he is ashamed of those thoughts and clearly seeks forgiveness for his thoughts in order to move on from them after all these years. If someone was taught to be a terrorist and then learned on their own that it's not okay, then proceeds to talk about how they were wrong and we no longer a terrorist, should we condemn them? I say no. If someone was taught to be a racist and learned not to be and why it was wrong of them, then talks about it and spreads the message that they were wrong, should we condemn them? Absolutely not. We should be happy they did not act on the thoughts and that they have learned better now.

@@kreed82 There in lies the problem most people have never actually experienced or seen actually rage, they think anger is rage but it's not rage is something so different. After having a bit of a tough upbringing getting out of it and manage to make something of myself, having a nice car, nice (rented) home, then i got sick at 25 I'll be ill till i draw my last breath and grief took over for myself and my life, the oath i thought i was on and rage would take over, my behaviour during these episodes was terrible i smashed things, i threw things, i said things I'd never say to anyone words of venom, against my own family the people who loved me, i knew after such episodes i was wrong and felt so much guilt and shame, but i couldn't stop it from rising again every now and then when I'd go beyond angry and said at my situation and I'd explode with rage, because i couldn't do anything about it and my mind couldn't deal with it, so i had to seek help. That's what should be the moral of Liam's story that he finally woke up/realised what he was doing before his rage had chance to take a life and he got help. What's the point in us urging people to talk about their mental health if we shun people and dehumanise them when we don't like what we hear? That's only going to make more people keep stum about problems they're having with their mental health. We're told to talk, that's how we should deal with our thoughts and feelings, then told to shut up when things get uncomfortable.

I'm defending Liam Neeson, I'm giving him a pass. I'm not a celebrity or entertainer so I'm not reluctant to do so. He simply had revengeful thoughts after the rape and assault of a friend, it was not anything racial about it. Many people have been in situations where they have had those kinds of thoughts or said some not so kind things about a person after someone they love had been done wrong, disrespected or attacked in some way. He is human, and simply reacted to what he had experienced. It happened 40 years ago, and he acknowledged that his actions were wrong and he couldn't believe how he reacted. Let those who have never had similar emotional thoughts cast the first stone. We need to stop focusing on what he could have done 40 years ago, and focus on what he did learn from the experience. It's amazing how a question asked to him about how he is able to get into the mind set of a revengeful person during filming can haunt him 40 years later because he was being truthful. The media certainly loves focusing and selling drama. Focus on something good for a change. Try focusing on news that unite, instead of separate and tear apart.

I think he should be applauded for coming out with this, he didn't owe this to anyone really. He could have kept it to himself but he chose to share and I'm sure we all have something to learn from his experience. Let's not paint him into something he is not really. YES! Because he confessed it himself. But that doesn't mean he wasn't racist and that mindset pisses people off because a lot of people hold that mindset and interact with people as if they don't. It scares black people knowing white people justify this devilish behaviour! People are not angry with Liam the man. barlotboys3403 Exactly, people can’t get jobs because of what they have done in the past. Not didn’t do. If some white guy raped your friend I’m sure you’d be the same way. My brother, my best friend, and I were jumped by 20 dudes (all black) just because we were white and the party got out of hand so we shut it down. (It was at my buddy’s house btw) they jumped us and we had to fight. The whole time they were talking about white boy this and white boy that. We didn’t do anything wrong, they got mad that we told everyone to leave and when everyone did, they were still there ignoring us like they didn’t have to leave my friend’s house. They smashed glass and acted a fool and wouldn’t leave the yard so that’s when we walked out there to tell them to go. One of them swung at my friend who rents the house and my friend hit him back. When that happened there were like 8 guys jumping him so my brother and I started throwing people off and that’s when the rest jumped in. None of them would hit me if I was facing them, always when I was turned away fighting someone else. Luckily we know how to fight otherwise, I don’t know how that would have ended. At the end one pulled a gun and fired off shots. What is that? If that’s not racism and looking for a fight and fighting unfair and acting maliciously, I don’t know what is. I don’t hate black people now just because of that, I’m just saying that anybody can be racist and the main racism I’ve seen nowadays is aimed at white folks by black and Latino folks. I’ve never seen anyone be racist and try to deliberately try and cause harm like that to a black dude in my life.

He DIDNT say he was looking to randomly attack ANY BLACKMAN.He was hoping to be set upon by a black man. So this is how the holier than thou modern society treats a man who was clearly mentally disturbed during a short period in his life following the rape of a friend. A man who had the guts to reveal his mental torment. A torment that must have been playing on his mind for so long he just had to reveal it publicly. Yet now we have the oh so perfect baying hyenas charging across the Serengeti to rip him to pieces, holy book in one hand machine gun in the other. I'm DISGUSTED with the way human kind is heading.

i don't know why liam neeson is getting attacked for having those thoughts (30 yrs ago)....those were his thoughts in the past....just about everyone has had racists thoughts in the past....the key is to not dwell on them....and to try to resist those evil thoughts... liam neeson himself admitted to feeling ashamed of having thoughts....he should not be ridiculed for making this confession.....some of us still have these racists thoughts and don't even realize it....rejecting someone because of his past thoughts is ridiculous and hypocritical......

Liam basicly showed one of the greatpitfalls of "identity political" thinking. You group people by what every you want, skin color is a obvious on, gender, clothes, political stands, accent... You migth declare them oppressed to to then bring "justice" and "help" them. You migth declare them to be guilty of the crimes of one of there members. We can't always rely on treating someone individualy, it's hard, takes time. But we should try doing that as much as possible.

“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs - partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.” ― Booker T. Washington
