As a five year old my parents went to a dog shelter with me and I wanted to adopt a pup. While walking through the shelter suddenly a dog came happily jumping to the fence and I instantly fell in love. It was already a full grown dog and the workers told us she was always in her corner and never came out of her shell like that. She kinda chose me actually. She was the greatest dog I could ever imagine ❤️

Rescues make the best pets, aka family members. They know what you've done for them. AND, by adopting and fostering, you open up a new spot for another animal to be rescued and cared for. Well done, good humans. Well done!

I''ll share a similar story. I adopted a dog as a teenager living on my own but after a few months I realized he was simply too much for me to handle so with a heavy heart I took him to the local shelter. Well, just as I was getting out of my car with the dog to take him into the shelter a station wagon pulled up with a large family. When they got out their car and saw me with the dog we started talking and it turns out they decided to adopt him! Made me SO happy!

My only concern is that: after spending large amounts of money to adopt and have the new pet be "home worthy (vet fees/ grooming charges, licencing fees etc)" and invest emotional attachment to the dog that one day on a walk somewhere, the dog will recognize a previous owner and want to go back to previous owner.

My guess is, that Marty has grown up isolated, never been taken outside (maybe they had a garden), and has never experienced the outside world. A dog shutting down when he sees a cat or other dogs is weird. Also lets not forget that being captured by strangers, then being locked into a small metal cage is a traumatizing experience for every dog. Let alone if it knew nothing than a certain small environment before.

That's how I ended up with my big cat boy: someone threw him from a moving car late Nov 21. Two girls saw him and took him to the vet, and then I saw him on FB shared by a friend of mine. I'd just lost my boy, so I wasn't ready (I thought), but it soon became apparent we were perfect for each other: I have CFS/ME and am house-bound in an apartment (hence no longer being able to have dogs) and he needed to be a one-cat household, indoor-only cat (he tested positive for FIV). He was 5 kilos when I got him but all head, just neutered, poor bubs, terrified and scratchy but underneath you could see the lovely lad. 2 years on, he is 8 1/2 kilos (not even fat!) and has completely lost all of his trauma responses and is a snuggle cat. To this day I am so grateful my friend shared his story. Shares help!

Animals absolutely have "complex" emotions! Anyone who has a pet can (or SHOULD) be able to see that they get lonely, depressed and/or sad, as well as happy and excited! They love, and form deep bonds, with people and other animals!❤❤❤

Marty strikes me as a dog who was chained up in someone's back yard and had perhaps a run but never interacted with strangers or other animals. The other possibility is living with an older person and never having gone outside, but a dog of Marty's size is hardly an exclusively indoor dog but it is possible. Marty's fear is heartbreaking because a walk for a dog should be an enjoyable experience and seeing a cat set Marty back into freezing only confirms that Marty was completely isolated. Marty's fear is going to be a hard nut to crack.

  • @jmo53214.

Isn't it depressing? I mean I understand that there are circumstances where someone has a dog and then tragedy strikes they become incapacitated or unable to do the things the dog deserves. But let's be honest the vast majority of the time it's people who impulsively acquire a dog, and then reality hits... and they just fail their pet on every level. I hate being so cynical, but working in the rescue world for so long, You just tend to lose faith in humanity. It just makes me that much more grateful for people like Rocky and his team. He is a living saint.

He doesn't get let out of that cage except maybe once a week for 15 minutes. I don't know what to do this is ridiculous because I've offered it have offered her even more money than what she originally asked for. Please give me some advice. Rocky, Love is the answer for cats, dogs, humans who are shut down. The inhumanity of people on other living beings is horrible. I pray Marty gets a loving home ASAP. A Mom or Dad or both that will love & appreciate him.

My Dad lost his big Ginger Tom and then 18 months later was reunited with him! Someone who knew my Dad and the Kitty went in to a vet clinic by chance, only 4 miles from my Dad´s home, and saw a ´found´poster for Fatboy Jackson. It was old and out dated and he´d found a lovely new home but when he saw my Dad he was obviously happy. They lived their lives out together as the happy fam they were meant to be.

Love Sitting with Dogs. But I found a happy dog video. It's from Australia and it's called The Farm. A doggie daycare Luke and Sam have 20 dogs and 3 children. Rocky if you get a chance watch their doggie pool party. You deserve it with what you do being so heavy on the heart. Love you, Theresa

I just signed up for membership. I have two wonderful pup babies whom I love very much. One I rescued from a family that stated "we just don't love her". She is the most loving baby ever! My male dog Sam remains to be the boss of the house but finally did accept Bella, or maybe just tolerates her. Anyway I love what you do to help these animals find loving homes. THANK YOU!

1:19 - 1:24 Marty aptly expresses what he thinks of having to stay in the kennel. Thanks so much to Rocky and the dedicated staff there. Fingers crossed that Marty will get a home for the holidays. Edit: We are cat people, so great job to you and your wife in saving Stormy. What beautiful lynx markings she has and so very friendly. Hopefully she will catch the eye of some loving owners also. :)
