I agree. This family is the best thing to happen to all those cats, especially Lola. I find her full of spunk and vigor. The gatekeeper theory is hilarious! Once she has found her voice in the household, Lola is the alpha cat. I'm happy to see her feel loved and the cat she was meant to be. When I was married, my now ex-husband and I got up to nine cats (we had no kids and a 2,000+ square foot house, so there was plenty of room for everyone, and of course there’s *always* plenty of love to go around!) because I had gotten into fostering feral moms and their kittens for a while. Most of the kitties I fostered went to wonderful “furever” homes other than ours, but anyone who was less likely to be adopted due to disabilities or personality issues (typically just those that needed a lot more time - similar to Lola - before they would be considered adoptable by most other people, and obviously when you dedicate that kind of time to a cat or kitten, you develop a very strong and special bond with them, so they often tell you they are already home! 🥰🥰🥰) ended up staying with us … (that is, assuming they wanted to stay with us, of course). One of the best behaved cats I’ve ever had was a feral mom who took a solid six months before she began to trust me at all, but once she started to do so, she was all in … and she then decided she was utterly *mine*. She was with me for 21 years before she crossed the Rainbow Bridge in August 2022; I miss her sassy, bossy, sweet, snuggles to this day, and I know I always will. Unfortunately, I’ve become too disabled to be able to take care of more than 1-2 cats, so I’m down to one - but we happily spoil each other rotten!

Think of all the great lessons this woman is teaching her children. I love when her daughter says Lola is the princess of the house, lol.

Lola is so beautiful! When you earn the trust of a fearful cat, it means you are a good person. Cats know. I have 3 rescued cats right now. 2 came from a hoarding situation in TX. It took 3 yrs before they both would come to me for attention. Now, they’re both lying next to me.

I have 2 foster fail tuxedos, and my female is still petrified and will barely let us pet her. She was an outdoor semi-feral that had babies. We began to foster her when they weaned the babies, and I just couldn't send her back to the outdoor elements. It has now been 3 years and we get a pet in every so often when treats are involved. We just let her be and know that she is warm, safe, and always has a full belly.

Animals are the best medicine for humans. They give you that without any expectation from you...which is affinity and unconditional love. They are grateful always to you till end. They never forget your kindness. Still humans take costly medicine for stress relaxation which they can easily get free of cost by adopting and helping suffering homeless animals.
