Terrell Owens on why he can still play in the NFL at age 44, Dez Bryant's problem | NFL | THE HERD

Joining Colin Cowherd in studio on The Herd, Terrell Owens does his best to convince Colin he can still perform at a dynamic level on an NFL team despite not having been in the NFL for 8 seasons as well as being 44-years old. Additionally, T.O. weighs in on why the embattled Dez Byrant has not been signed and why LeBron James threw a tantrum in Game 1 after J.R. Smith's late-game blunder.

Great interview today, T.O. has a lot of good points, but no player has ever played WR in their mid 40s. Only quarterbacks and kickers seem to play in their 40s.

12WeMet1 ok well then I just don’t agree with that. I watched TO play his whole career and read his book always read both perspectives not just the media’s. I believe TO acted out and was a bit excessive with celebrations but I do not believe that he was overly needy and threw fits when he didn’t get the ball. I think that has been grossly exaggerated.

Just Run Smith what exactly does “keepin it real” mean? Because he just seems to argue with people, will let his guest rebut while simultaneously not really regard what said person is countering, and then just keep going with his ‘points’? Last time I can clearly remember him just ignoring facts was when they were talking about who’s the league mvp and Colin had a clear favor in lbj and the white mamba countered it with an unanimous league-wide James harden vote. Colin argued certain facts that he posted on his big tv there and mamba told him he’s just showing the facts that favors Lebron and he started asking him to show what their stats not shown were and he just ignored it completely.

There is a difference between being in shape and being in NFL shape. You could go to the gym every day and play in rec-leagues. But you don't go to NFL practices and go through rigorous training for 8 hours every day. You also don't prepare for getting hit by 300 lb men. You also forget what its like to catch a ball in the freezing cold with a dark, masked helmet on and a sticky corner on your back. You forget how difficult it is to jump in the air and find the perfect spot to get the ball in your hands. You also forget how hard it is to, once you catch the ball, bring it back down safely in your hands without letting a single dose of air creep through your hands and the leather. Not to mention, getting tackled, pulled on, tugged down by multiple defenders and having to stay on your feet. Going to the gym does not prepare you for that. 10 times a game or even 2 times a game...every week...for 16 weeks. Being "in shape" is not the same as NFL ready.

CJ Eastt no such thing as nfl shape Biggest myth ever. I cant count how many times ive seen a player on the sidelines after a big run gasping for air with the mask over their face. U wanna see in shape people check out crossfit. Nfl is not an endurance sport....high burst and power.....different type of training. Nfl athletes dont train to last

One reason I believe LeBron didn't say anything to JR on the bench is because we've all seen how emotional the guy is from the beginning of this season. If LeBron wanted to lay into him and make him feel stupid that could've tanked any production JR could've had for the rest of the series. So instead LeBron decided to just keep his mouth shut instead of saying things he would later regret. He should have tried to pick him back up though, as with the rest of the team before overtime

As a 49er fan I loved Owens, but facts are facts...Jeff Garcia threw him A TON of touchdowns, yet as soon as Garcia (and McNabb, and Romo) would hit a rough patch, Owens would strike like a viper. Nothing wrong with being a passionate guy who wants the ball in his hands, yet instead of being appreciative Owens ALWAYS would say things to the effect of "All I can do is catch it, if I had a better QB throwing me the ball we would be a better football team." Not everybody gets to play with Manning/Brady/Favre etc, all it did was cause locker room turmoil and alienate himself from the rest of the squad. Man, if T.O. could just have always supported his teammates, literally the only difference, he would be remembered a lot more fondly. He could still talk trash, still do crazy TD celebrations, still be his flamboyant self, just didn't throw his teammates under the bus as soon as some adversity came about.

Colin and the network are missing out if they don't take TO up on timing him in the 40 yard dash. That would be a huge media take,.. people would watch it live if it was kept short enough. In other words it seemed like Colin brushed it off due to what he believes.. when his job is to generate interesting content -- And I'd like to see TO go run a 40 at his age.. even more I'd like to see TO hit a 4.5x or so and break down more of those barriers. He's right.. why CAN'T he play in a limited capacity and be beneficial to any team out there at his age? Can everyone play at 40+ in the NFL.. no.. their bodies / genetics just don't let them. TO seems to obviously have superior athletic genetics but also his body doesn't seem trashed. We're all different.. Person A at 44 may be the same as Person B at 38 and Person C at 45 etc. I'd be willing to bet TO is in equal or better shape and performance ability of some NFL players in their mid to late 30's at skill positions.
