A couple things happened that had people from New Orleans repping bloods. One is when Lil Wayne started claiming it. He was on fire at that time and some people who were huge fans of his were following his lead. Another thing is Katrina hit and people migrated to cities that had bloods and crips. Some people adopted it from that but older people from New Orleans who grew up in the 80s and 90s looked at people from New Orleans repping blood as phony. I'm not saying dudes who was on that wasn't living like that but it wasn't New Orleans identity. I knew a lil young dude from out the east who was on that but me and another older dude respectfully explained to him why we thought it was a bad look. I knew a handful of dudes around my age who repped blood but they actually got put on that when they spent time out of town. I have a theory on the whole promotion of the gang culture. I think it makes it easier for law enforcement to hit dudes with indictments and RICO charges.

Big Rebo was born at Charity Hospital in New Orleans but lived in a small town in Louisiana before he moved to Compton with his family to escape prejudice, racism and low paying jobs as so many Blacks did during the 3 Great Migrations.... Charity Hospital was similar to County USC,MLK etc During segregation Black patients weren't allowed at many hospitals. Therefore they had to travel to the nearest town or city that accepted Black patients for clinics, inpatient hospital stays and outpatient services too... If local doctors that were still making house calls or midwives were not available it meant long trips.... New Orleans was very racist too but the state allowed the Charity Hospitals which were spread around the state of Louisiana (similar to the county hospitals in California and elsewhere) to treat Blacks...
