This could definitely fit into a WW2 style setting as well, it has that traditional European style that I've seen while on holiday in France and Belgium. I'm planning on making some ruined buildings like this to go along with some tank models I'm going to build next. Thanks for another useful video!
That's a thing of beauty. Thank you for sharing from one Mordheim fan to another.

Thanks Morjax! There is more to come from the City of the Damned. I have a campaign coming up and am excited about all the cool projects in that setting I can do.

@@EricsHobbyWorkshop looking forward to it Eric. This video is a big help, was contemplating dropping a lot of money on MDF, but I'm feeling very confident now that I can do it myself. What thickness is the foam board?
Nicely done my friend. You make things look so easy. And thanks again for sharing your video ….. well done as always 👍👍
Amazing, definitely going to borrow these iseas for deatiling MDF buildings and adding themed special builds.
Brilliant build. Inspiring me to start using foam board.
Used to do so much Mordheim in high school when it first came out. We mostly just combined a couple of folks' boxed sets of the pre-made cardboard buildings.

Very cool build. I use some of your techniques in my builds for D&D. Thank you, I like your inspirational style

I am glad you are able to get something from my videos!
Great choice on the background music!
I like it! Only thing I would add is some sand to hide the exposed edges of the foamcore and make the broken pieces of the wall grittier, and maybe some more weathering (maybe soot and grime), but I like your process and the end result. A table full of these would look great.

Working on that table! I will do another fantasy themed video soon and show the progress of what I’ve been working on. I thought about hiding the edges but that kind of begged the question about what was supposed to be inside the walls to begin with. Woven wattle? Wooden laths? I didn’t want to have to show any of that peeking out, so i just left it. I don’t think sand would have made it look any more realistic in my eye. This may need a bit more pondering on my part. Thanks for your comment though!

@@EricsHobbyWorkshop Good point :) I'll have to look that up, not sure what would go in there! :D
The techniques are really handy. I'm presently using the old Mordheim cardboard scenery (which are looking a little tired after twenty years) as a foundation and then layering using craft sticks as floorboards, beams, and window/door frames and the like. The original buildings help save time, but I'll add to them by scratch-building, so this video will become a staple in my library. Thanks so much for your work!
This is very impressive! It looks great and has a dilapidated feel to it. I will try this myself soon. Thanks for sharing this and I subscribed yesterday.
Awesome vid! Appreciate your level of explanation, reasoning, and a window into the thought process of a master craftsman.
Amazing build!! You know you've just broke me and the misses up!! our weekends are out of the window now lol 😉. Love it thanks mate now it time to blow the dust off my hobby knife. I hope You make more of these my frost Graves never going to be the same.

I'm building a piece inspired heavily by this right now. It's my first piece and I'm already learning a lot! Wish me luck
This is super cool. I love the detail on those shingles and the colors look really nice together. Maybe work on your lighting situation though.

You can also use this for Bolt Action in Normandy scenario 😉
Although I've seen a lot of fantasy ruins like this, I had this sudden thought when you were building the story of the amount of scattered wood on the model. How does a building get this way? While we've all seen buildings get this way in modern times, it's usually as a result of high explosive ordinance. It's very Tolkienesque to borrow the imagery of modern warfare as part of the fantasy world building process.
@EricsHobbyWorkshop

Mordheim was hit by a meteor, so modern ordnance is not a bad comparison!

In a fantasy setting, "heavy ordinance" could be anything from anachronistic siege weapons to rampaging giants to alchemical explosions. Not to mention good old fashioned fire. A city made of wood is quite vulnerable to fire. It might be useful, when making such terrain pieces, to make them look scorched around the edges.
Thanks for tutorial! What is material for walls? It looks like foamboard

Foamcore board
OK, I heard that one. In one of your videos you made a point out of catching yourself saying a word that is just a fancy and unnecessarily long version of a common word. There is a term for this type of thing, being supercilious. Which is really just a fancy way of saying pompous, or putting on airs, or perhaps even better, linguistic puffery. Anyway, the word happens at about 5:50 into the video, it is "Methodology". If you think about it, you really mean just "method". Technically Methodology is the study of methods, but a great many people use it all the time to mean just method. Sort of how cops say "rate of speed" when they just mean "speed". As an "influencer", I am so happy that you have seen this, and perhaps you can help bring back simple straight forward speech. And I get to steel all these modeling tips in the meantime. Thanks.
Whats that black board material?
@niina83
Жыл бұрын
2 year old reply but what the heck, someone else might be wondering the same. The black board material is just regular foam board. You can get it from your everyday craft stores or amazon. Alternative budget version: Regular cardboard.
No piece of art is ever finished, only abandoned!
Good video but it's too fast especially when it comes to the measurements
Only a real man would dare craft with a pink pencil and flowered nail clippers.
I love hot nerds.
what is the black material used here?
