What I don't get is, if they couldn't do different characters representing different countries, why not make it then different characters representing different (private) Japanese companies or institutions? Could still keep the tension and secrecy. Just go intranational rather than international.

I've noticed a tendency of anime fans to brand deviations from source material as heretical, and Japanese live action anime movies very much feel like they take that to heart, trying to stay "faithful" to the point of diminishing the movie's quality. If I were to guess they didn't do something like that because it might have been considered "too much of a change". I could be completely wrong though.

I was thinking the same thing. You could just have it be so that while all nominally work for the government, some are actually working for the Japanese Government, maybe some are secretly Yakuza members, maybe a few are working for a shady government agency (or hell - they could be Japanese-born agents for foreign spy services or just being paid to do something by foreign governments).

The point about there not being many non-ethnic Japanese actors in Japan amuses me, There, while it causes problems, they at least have the excuse for making changes out of practicality. Meanwhile in Hollywood, they actually do have access to large swathes of people with just about any trait they need, and yet they still insist on unnecessary race-swapping.

I think the manga that needs to be adapted into a live action is Monster. I don't know why but it just works perfectly. Heck! Even most of the panels are set up like a movie. There's now weird power ups, no crazy anime fight scenes. Just psychological terror. If anyone picked this up and made it in German, got a Japanese actor who could speak German (if there are any that is) , then BOOM! You have yourself a masterpiece. It doesn't even have to be in German, just follow the manga, and film it in Germany and Czechia, then you have yourself a live action version of Naoki Urasawa's Monster.

@@fleurdeliseffxiv1580 Into a monster, he grows up into a monster. That is kind of the theme of the whole story. This is a person that is beyond redemption, he can not be saved nor reason with, and he will spread suffering and death wherever he goes. Now, Dr Tenma is a good person, even if he not always does the best thing, he never once does something out of malice. The question the anime ask is, can this person, someone inherently good, kill a monster with no redemption? And if he does, is he still a good person?

This movie was my first exposure to Terra Formars. I watched it on a flight to Japan; I spent most of the first half of it wondering what the hell I was looking at! All in all; I've had worse first contact situations than a mediocre live action anime. That said; after actually seeing the anime, I do see how much the film falls short.

It really depends. The "feudal" style films like Gintama, Kenshin, Azumi, and Blade of the Immortal have been surprisingly good. You also have Phoenix Wright, Jojo Diamond is Unbreakable, American Speed Racer, American Alita, Jin Roh, and Japanese Death Note (other than the L movie) that are all good live action adaptations. But of course, you do have plenty of bad adaptations like Attack on Titan (I thought part 1 was actually good), Gantz (I actually liked this one), Full Metal Alchemist (pretty good CGI, not much else), and plenty more really. Cowboy Bebop is definitely a dumpster fire considering that the creators are distancing themselves from it and the woman who plays Faye pre-empting criticism is not a good sign.

Live action Japanese death note from 2006 has got to be one of the only anime adaptations I've ever liked. With both it's movies it makes the choice to drastically alter the story, but in a way that I think was genuinely to its benifet. It was a way to alter the plot in a way that was easier to execute in the movie in a way that still felt in character for the series. It also had the benifit of having an English dub with all the original actors, which helped maintain a sense of identity than if I had watched it in native Japanese.

'Puts in a Serial Killer.' 'Gives him Super Powers........cause that's a good idea.' 'He doesn't attempt to kill any of the crew. Man, that'd be like putting a team together in Lord of the Rings to go fight Sauron, a group that SOMEHOW includes and Uruk and an Olog...............and the Traitor ends up being a Human. ......... So basically put Ratbag and Ranger in. ........ I WANT MY SHADOW OF RATBAG WARNER BROS! I'm sorry, what were we talking about?

Speaking of live action adaptations, watching the live action version of Home Sweet Home on Netflix had me cry laughing and I couldn't breath. I am sorry but dramatic epica music playing over a muscle monster chasing a dude across a balcony and then in the next scene immediately going from epica music to imagine dragons is peak comedy, especially since its supposed to be horror.

Cockroach bastards Also, I feel that the anime, manga and the movie is like some anti-doom where the enemy’s are somewhat stupidly op It’d be strange to see some fan-crossovers though (ideas: crysis/terraformars or Baki/terraformars)

Speaking of crysis, I have a character that might be a good idea Blue ring nomad Y/N was given nomads suit,(same method prophet did but instead of replacing you, they give their life to you instead) Notes: they are faster to evolve than prophet post-3 and uses self-made weapons(example major teeth and jaw upgrades to bite, electricity ,poison and claws) Blue right mode: a berserk rage mode which glowing blue rings are on the body, the muscles get bigger, the claws are bigger, slight head changes to allow the skull that is similar to venom’s head shape, the eyes are still the visor, the teeth are changed to be more interlocking and gets full control of the boosters to fly.

Also I note that when Japan adapts a anime to live action, they always constantly mimic everything the anime does (from the tropes, cliches and other characteristics anime does like pausing after doing a attack, or standing still if something goes too fast). The first death with that couple, I laughed so loudly, the way she just dies after her neck gets broken is so hilarious and comedic. It was meant to be serious, but anime death done in live action is way too comedic and hilarious.

It would have been cool if the roaches remained motionless until movement was necessary. And then similar to the animation, just show the aftermath after they start to move. That way you cut out on the silly looking motions they make, and also keep that element of tension and suspense. If I see a roach's eye slightly move, then a shot on it's foot begin to move, then show a rush of wind past a protagonist's face, I'm going to be hanging on that moment as I wonder who just took a hit. Then the reveal wide shot would be the payoff!

death note actually did get a great movie adaptation, you would probably enjoy the 2007 Japanese live action film and it's sequel "death note: the last name" which vastly improves the story of death note.

the manga was a masterpiece sadly anime didn't do as well like you pointed out in the second season and the live action oh my maybe if they changed focused on bug lore or their perspective fighting humans and evolving taking powers from us and putting it in them give us something new then the same old it would do better but the manga was just so good. That's why I liked terraforms it always felt like humans would lose cause the bugs always were adapting and evolving faster then us being smarter then we gave them credit that and the natural breeding time of the cockroach hell we even had collaborators working with the bugs so it was like a perfect sci-fi tragedy in space about our race dooming ourselves to our own creation.

Have anyone read The Manga called, *Real Account by Okushou and Shizumu Watanabe.* The manga is about Killing game(like Battle Royale, and Danganronpa) that is based on social media app with the same name. Give challenges to the users of the app, an exaggeration of self worth from their followers and real people and their personalities behind their online persona. Real Account didn't have an anime but it popular enough to get a *"live action movie",* that was announced in over 3 years ago. And the Manga ended in 2019. I Wonder if Real account's Mascot, Marble will be act by a real person or will be cg (hope it's at least good as Jojo) Also Real Account was already license by Kodansha usa and also in physical print but went into omnibus after vol 8. hope it good as Alice in borderland(even though I never seen it)
