Terminator: Resistance is a 2019 first-person shooter action video game developed by Teyon and published by Reef Entertainment for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It is based on the Terminator franchise.
Terminator: Resistance is set in a post-apocalyptic 2028 Los Angeles. Players take on the role of Jacob Rivers, a soldier in the John Connor-led human resistance against Skynet's robotic killing machines. The game will have multiple possible endings.
Terminator: Resistance was announced in September 2019. It was developed by Poland-based Teyon, and published by Reef Entertainment. In Europe and Australia, Terminator: Resistance was released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows on November 15, 2019. The Windows version also received a U.S. release on November 14, through Steam. In the U.S., the home console versions were delayed from December 3 to December 10, 2019.
A sixth film in the Terminator franchise, Terminator: Dark Fate, was released shortly prior to the game's release, and the game does not appear to have any relation or connection to the sixth film's timeline or characters. Like Dark Fate, however, the game appears to be ignoring all Terminator franchise films after Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Please support this game and developers. They want to make DLC or free expansion, one being where you play as a Terminator. They said this depends on how well the game sells. Steam reviews are 88% positive on over 400 reviews. However it's being kicked to the curb by bullshit "reviewers" like IGN. Thanks to Gman for giving this game a TRUE review. If you love the first 2 films, then you owe it to yourself to play this. Get out there and give your honest reviews as well.

I EMAILED THE TEAM - Regarding the games difficulty. They responded - “we're happy to hear you're interested in our game! While the normal and hard difficulty levels in Terminator: Resistance are meant to be fun and enjoyable for most players, the game also offers EXTREME difficulty for those seeking a greater challenge. In the end difficulty is a subjective matter, which is why we can't promise that the extreme difficulty level will be enough of a challenge for everyone, but it is significantly harder than the lower levels. Keep in mind that the RPG elements in the game can make you stronger as you progress through the game, making encounters a different experience depending on what skills you decide to put your points into. Although the team is processing the player feedback at the moment, there are no plans to add more difficulty levels into the game for now.”

I responded - From what I’ve seen your game seems to have a lot of interesting ideas and features, offering a bit more depth than simply your average linear corridor shooter. It places an emphasis on scavenging and utilising the battlefield to your advantage against (in theory) a superior foe; by hacking enemy gun turrets and offering the options to play more stealthy not just guns blazing. It’s suggests that the player must employ strategy and tactics to overcome overwhelming odds.... And I really like that! However, as you can understand - that all falls apart if you can simply charge your way through the game guns blazing not needing to use any other strategy. If you are too generous with resources, and an over abundance of ammo etc it can kill any sense of tension or the need to use a variety of tactics and approaches. When games are challenging it forces the player take a more considered approach - to utilise various tactics and strategies to win. It also forces the player to explore the levels to gather resources and ammo necessary to survive and overcome the enemy. This is what I desire - and it seems like your game has the right components to offer that, but might well be too easy overall even on Extreme difficulty? Here’s some relevant points from Destructoids review - “ Take for example the implementation of crafting, crate hacking, lockpicking, trading, and scavenging. One of more of these actions are performed incessantly, sometimes mere seconds apart. Not only does this get tedious, but all of the rewards cancel each other out. Who needs to trade when you can craft? Who needs to craft ammo/tools when you can hack boxes for them? Who needs to purchase pipebombs when you can find them lying around? It gets to a point where you can ignore some of these mechanics entirely, as everything you'll ever need will come to you in abundance, one way or another.” And... “ The classic T-800 unit is without doubt the most impressive model in the game, and Resistance is successful (initially) in presenting the Terminator as an oppressive, terrifying foe. Unfortunately, Rivers is soon thereafter kitted out with an arsenal of powerful weaponry, as well as a quick-to-complete skill tree. By the campaign's midpoint, stealth can take a hike entirely as Rivers proceeds to mow down battalions of Skynet's forces with ease. John Connor should've sent this guy back to '84.” I’m invested in seeing this game be tweaked and improved as I think it has huge potential!

Is it going to rewrite the book on action games? No. Does it sport great graphics? Not exactly. Is the gameplay fresh? Nah, kinda' outdated. Is the difficulty challenging? Barely, even on Extreme. Is the inventory system good? No, it's really lopsided in terms of balanced. Does any of this matter? NOPE!! The game is GREAT. It nails the nostalgia factor, the atmosphere of the future war sequences from the movies, and there's something strangely addicting about it. I started it, and played basically through the entire game start to finish, and now I want to go back and play through a second time. WHY??? I have no idea. it's just a GREAT GAME!

Pretty much, though I would give them a little more credit on the difficulty/inventory/gameplay side. Yeah, none of it's new or cutting edge like you'd expect from a modern AAA game, but it's solid. It works. It's easy get into, and it lets you easily customize your experience. It's simply good and refreshingly absent of bugs, rather than marvellously groundbreaking or innovative. It basically does what Alien: Isolation did for Alien, but with a AA budget instead of a AAA budget.

About the blurriness of the Unreal Engine, it can be deactivated and make it look good but for some reason many developers choose to pack every post-process effect into one setting and when you turn it down you actually disable other effects and it looks awful. So people end up choosing between a good but blurry look and a sharp but bad look. It also happens with many Unreal Engine 3 titles so it has gotten this kind of reputation.

@@whodatninja439 Developers are mostly console-oriented now, and they dont have a lot of faith in console players to not fuck the game up for themselves by bungling the settings and then go complain about it loudly on the forums/reddit. So the default settings setup of the Unreal Engine withholds many option that can "potentially detract from gameplay experience" from showing in the menu, unless developers explicitly go and put them there. And developers often don't bother, because if the game looks fine on their 8k display graphic stations, it surely would look fine everyhere else. And the useage of blur-the-hell-out-of-everything TAA is because it is cheapest performance-wise, and looks fine on Console+TV setup. Surely it would look fine on a PC monitor that is designed to provide sharper and clearer image, right?

@@bigprogamer1523 Bethesda made, to my knowledge, 4 Terminator games. Gman covered them in a video. Rampage is not that great neither is 2029. But Future Shock and Skynet were quite good for the time. It was Open world (you can enter buildings), drivable Jeep & HK levels, weapons from the Terminator films, and many different Terminator variants. All from 1995-96. And yes, a lot better than Fallout 76 lmao You can really see the post-apocalyptic influences they developed from Future Shock and Skynet.

I think a terminator game could be amazing if it was done properly. It would be cool to be a terminator that is on the side of the resistance where you can fight in the war but also go back in time, say for like assassination contracts or something like that. And being a robot would make an upgrade system make sense. I would love to have a game like that with a more fleshed out base building system similar to what fallout 4 had but that actually makes sense and is used as a home base sort of thing, and that you actually have to defend at points. So many ideas for a game like that.
