I think the more I watch these front shovels at work, the more I like them! It's a whole different operation than the conventional backhoe. I'd love to run either. I'd like to see this old girl with a good de-greasing and bath. I bet she still looks pretty good.

Terex operator needs to bring dump trucks in at an angle to the face to reduce wear on swing gear and speed up turnaround.

Only time it gets washed is if it breaks down to the point it needs to go in the shop.... otherwise shes running 24/7 except for basic maintenance. Oil, hydraulic, grease, coolant.....

They are strip mining for coal to feed the power station in the background. Also known as open cut mining. You can see the plumes of steam from the coal fired power station a few kilometres behind the shovel.
