Dennis your videos are an inspiration. Nicely narrated. No annoying music. Pleasant voice. Always educational. Always funny. You guys rock.
I did it last year with my Jeep which has a 3" lift, 35's and lockers. It was just plain brutal. There were custom rigs on 44's and rear wheel steering that were breezing through it. I guess how tough the trail is depends largely on what you brought. Lot's of trailers in the parking lot at the start. Not me. I drove all the way there from L.A., did the trail (over 3 days) and drove all the way back without any major damage other than to my skids... which were trashed. Cadillac Hill was no joke either.

I just did it on a dirt bike. Never again.
Running it for the first time in three days! Never been so excited...and NERVOUS...since my twins were born!! Will be the true test of the work i've put into my JKU! But hope to God it comes out okay! This video certainly helped see what we have to battle! Fortunately I only live about 90 minutes from the trail head so hopefully the first of many runs through it!
I was there for a week in 97, I will never forget the trip. 😀
This one is on the bucket list for sure! I can't count how many times i've watched this video planning our trip out there!
Amazing place I can't wait to go back . Anyone that likes to offroad should be on bucket lists.
Heading there in 2020 with some buddies (it’s 2,300 miles from my home) and taking my 2013 Rubicon- game changer suspension to replace the TeraFlex 3.5 kit and 37’s and my 99 Cherokee with a complete custom suspension, 38’s w/beadlocks and full hydro steering... can’t wait...doing upgrades as money allows to be sure we’re ready!
We have done this trail at least 8 different times in different jeeps from our 47 willys which we still have to cj5 two different ones to our jeep wrangler Rubicon jk 4door which we still have. It has lift 40 tires Dana 60s floating axels front and rear lockers 513 gears and a hemi engine in it with 8 speed automatic transmission. The Rubicon trail is in the top 5 trails we have done.we have done many from west coast side and east coast side.
Offroaders and Environmentalists should be working hand in hand to promote outdoor activities, and not fight against each other. Protecting our lands is just as important as being able to use them responsibly. Practice pack it in, pack it out. Tread lightly.
Beautiful video!
+Austin Tanner, They are 38" Goodyear MTR tires
As an avid 4 wheeler and environmentalist I'm her to say the ideas aren't mutually exclusive. don't leave your empties littering the trail leave only tire tracks take only pictures. some folks wan't to carve up the trees and tag the goddamn rocks. both sides have a point on this issue, but in the end the spirit of preservation and exploration go should go hand in hand.

Gary, I agree with you 100%. I live in AZ and love to find new places as far away from civilization as I can get. It breaks my heart when I am in the middle of no wear and find a pile of beer cans and broken glass. Its so easy to just take out with you what you brought in. I do a lot of cleaning up while I am wheeling.
Awesome vid mate!
Great Video Loved watching this Thanks
The Rubicon trail is so talked about and has such a heritage I was beyond excited to run it for the first time about 2 years ago. I was thoroughly disappointed, it dosent resemble what the trail looked like in old photos. I ran the whole thing and could've made it without running lockers at all, there are still a few sections you can take a slight detour for some more extreme stuff. We had a good time but I've had much more fun on the fordyce trail not far from the rubi.

Excellent video!

Great video.
I will do this before I die! It's on the bucket list. :)
That moment when youve done the rubicon and recovered over 15 jeeps in a 974runner. though it is supercharged and arb airlocked in the rear on sticky 37s with a ghetto lunchbox locker in the front. My yota has a "Jeep Recovery unit" sticker

I LMAO! When I saw that @ 1:40.
Where you get your music for these videos? It was amazing, and transitioned perfectly between sections. I would love to get my Jeep at the end of the year, and just play that as a soundtrack while I test it out.
They need to make a rubicon trail map for spintires(off-road game)
been there. done that!
Keep it open!🇺🇸
What hood is on the Blue Wrangler?
what tires are on the blue jeep?
Great video on the Rubicon! Those obstacles should keep Handicorn away from you.
Not gonna lie I made it through the rubicon with 31in tires a 2in lift rear locker and sway bar disconnects, no damage and didnt get stuck as well as no spotter.

Most people simply aren't very good drivers and see the simplest of obstacles as highly daunting. I haven't done the Rubicon, but this is what I see on tight trails in the desert just about every time I go out there with a group. Most folks just don't have good spatial awareness, or a good grasp on the capabilities of their vehicle.

How lucky you are to have such beautiful areas you can drive. Here in the UK, most areas are systematically being shut. Piss poor.

It's a world wide issue. Joint and support your local land use groups.
Its the delta smelt in California and not the Snail Darter. The snail darter is in east Tennessee.
You guys even have trail guide..... very luxury.
Do you guys think if one has a 3 inch lift with 35 inch tires, will they survive the trail? Does seem like it to me but what do i know...i am just a beginner.

+Srikanth K depends on the type of jeep. longer wheelbase is gonna be better. also depends on conditions. if its raining or snowing, any jeep is going to have a hard time. but plenty of stock jeeps have done it. (with body damage I'm sure) id just plan for 3-4 days on the trail, with plenty of food and don't go alone. bring spare parts as well...

+Srikanth K My Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and I made it through it with a 2 Inch Suspension lift, Bring a spare tire and tools of course :)
Given a JK or upcoming JL Rubicon what would be the minimum requirements to run this? Would a 2" or 2.5" lift and 35" tires be able to make it?

Mary Poppins why? I, and many I know, have been doing it for 15 years, and that was well before these "Jamboree" clubs took all the challenge out of it. Their jeeps should read "Mall Crawler Rated".

So what does it mean to be a Big Dog, Pro Mod, and Modified Street? Classifications man.
Last part of the video says one can make it through, thanks, that was a solace.

TeraFlexSuspensions thanks for replying. I took my rig out to Moab last summer and had a great time. I don’t have lockers but I have a decent amount of clearance and wheel size to get the job done. Then again it really depends on the line one takes at times. Rubicon soon though!

@@apolonioman5479 Moab is great, but the Rubicon Trail should be on every Jeepers bucket list. 👍
Lol "Time to ponder why it is you DO this to your Jeep" hahahaha
Great guide, what did i hit? he shrugs, rocks. haha
Teraflex Jeep made the Rubicon trail look like a bounce house for a 7 year old.
with the way its going, give it 20 years and your average stock 2wd ford escape could get through the rubicon. makes me wonder just how much its been dumbed down now that its 2020
trevor phillips!

I don't like what you guys are doing... you are having too much fun! HaHa. Great video, it makes me want to get a Jeep.
anyone else when they see a jeep with 4" of front travel just want to beat someone with a sway bar? seriously everyone one of these jeeps have a lot of money in them and u cant afford some disconnects?

I think if I'm extra careful in choosing my lines, I should be able to do the trail in my Compass! LOL
if they keep altering the trail, people will be able to drive their Prius on the trail.
@UltimateCARNUT

+grn dragon Although the Prius access would be excessive... allowing for people in non lifted vehicles to comfortably drive the trail would be a benefit for it as more people would venture out to take it on. As it looked on this video if I bought a new JK id stay off it.
@grndragon2443
8 жыл бұрын
maybe you should look at the photos of the trail before they started using explosives to level out whole sections of the trail. take the "gate keeper" for instance, it's gone. And the access for non-lifted 4x4's is on the lake Tahoe side. Taking away the very thing that made the trail so great of a challenge would make it like all the of trails, not benefit it.

Ironically but not specifically to contradict you it used to be accessible by stage coach back in the day and as mentioned at the beginning of the video Dennis points out that cars used to be able to make it. It's a thousand times worse than that now.

You're right, why would you have quick disconnects and not use them? i've removed my anti-rollbar (swaybar) .
Wheeling with a large group is a double edged sword. JJ USA takes forever to cover ground because most of these jeeps are mall crawlers driven by retirees afraid of brush scratches. Apply Ice if Burned
