it's a very old tradition.. people used to believe that water cleansed the girls and women, making them healthy, beautiful or even younger for the whole year.. whipping with a magic whip was supposed to boost their fertility.. when the guys finish with the treatment they get a reward from the girls as a way of saying 'thank you'.. :)

then they wouldn't invite them... you don't go to random house, but either to family & friends, or if you're in a choir (as in the video), also to homes that invite you
