Coptic, the final stage of the Egyptian language, developed after Greek and Roman rule in Egypt and was further influenced by Christianity. It retains connections to Ancient Egyptian through its grammar, vocabulary, and writing system. Coptic provides valuable insights into ancient Egyptian civilization and is still used in the Coptic Orthodox Church and studied by scholars today.
What if the Coptic script flipped, going back from its modern form to the ancient hieroglyphs of Egypt with possible correspondences?
After all, Coptic traces its roots all the way back to those pictograms. First came the Proto-Sinaitic then Phoenician script, inspired by the hieroglyphs, then Ancient Greek borrowed from it, and finally, Coptic emerged itself. This script wasn't just for show - it gave voice to the Coptic people, their language a direct descendant of the ancient Demotic, spoken centuries before the Arab world reshaped their land.

As a Greek native speaker I found it surprising that I could recognise so many words! I never listened to Coptic before, but it's only natural that it's so heavily influenced by Greek since these two languages co-existed for centuries in Egypt.

@@stiqioy After Alexander's conquest, and with the establishment of the Ptolemaic dynasty, there was strong Greek presence in Egypt, a presence which continued even after the Roman conquest. It only ended with the arrival of muslims, as in the rest of the Middle East.

Funny story iam from small village in nile delta .. as i was talking one of the family elders he told me that we actually not from nile delta but from Giza so i start searching for my family roots at Giza and i found them huge family with thousands of members.. another time he told me another key of information he mentioned that the family in Giza had even deeper root in upper Egypt so i was start searching again and it wasn't easy this time until i found article in the news talking about police successfully ended fight between 2 families in upper Egypt and one of the families carry my family name but the problem is this family was Coptic christian...

Yes. The hymn pertains to Christianity and is unrelated to the Ancient Egyptian religion. However, my main focus is on the written language employed in the hymn, namely Coptic, which directly descends from the Ancient Egyptian language. The hieroglyphs present in the lyrics serve as a reflection of the language itself rather than being associated with religious stuff.
