@@kemiamino he was a gatekeeper as well. In my opinion anyone with the title isn't considered the true champion until they actually face and beat Josh Alexander in the ring 123, period. Technically Josh never lost the title. The only thing that beaten Josh for the title is injury

For someone who is a fan of Alex Shelley, you'd think Josh would be a little more respectful of the champ. He interrupted Shelley's celebration after beating Nick Aldis, he keeps referring to the title as his, and for all his talk about doing things the right way, he expects to come back at the same spot that he left, and that spot isn't his anymore. More to the point, he DID lose the title. He couldn't defend it, and he lost it. I'd like to see him go through the roster and win a number one contender spot before he gets a title shot.

Surrendering the title due to injury and losing the title in a match are two fundamentally different things in the World of Wrestling story telling. You've got a champion who wasn't beaten for the title so nobody expects him to start from square one when he came back. Imagine if Stone Cold Steve Austin was feuding with Billy Gunn at Survivor Series 2000 instead of Triple H wouldn't make a lick of sense.

And yet, I would say that there is a difference. Aldis was an arrogant, snobby heel who overestimated his sense of superiority. Alex is obviously more brash and emotional and it is also obvious that he has enough experience and knows well enough who exactly his opponent is to not repeat the same mistake of underestimating.

Because I feel like only reason he is champion in the first place was cause josh got legit injured if he hadn’t I don’t think Shelly or maclin would of been champions so they are both lucky in that regard but again unfortunately im pretty confident Shelly is gonna drop the title back to Alexander now he has healed so impact can continue whatever their plans were with josh before he got hurt….
