Jeff - I saw this video just before going to play tennis with my buddies - and after just a few minutes of trial and error, I NAILED it! I've struggled with consistency on my serve for so long...this one KZread session has been more valuable than hours and hours of playing, coaching lessons and other KZread videos I've seen. Thanks so much! For those interested in how I made the adjustments, I did the feet positioning adjustment first, then the toss (I was earlier popping it vertically in front of me of vs. in an arc that takes the ball over your head but still in front) and finally the arm movement. Every single tip here, when applied, makes the kick serve fairly consistent. The toss, by far, was the biggest game changer! Can't express my gratitude enough :-)

Every time you go live to make some predictions or just talk about a Slam, you say that you're even better in your tutorials. Is not that often that self-promotion on youtube is actually true. Yours are by far the best tennis videos on the web, and amongst the best in sports in general. Amazing work, thank you so much.

Hi Jeff, I really enjoyed learning about the kick serve. I had a great night of tennis today. I started out poorly, but after a few games, I was winning my service games with ease. I learned it with your Kick Serve Secrets, and each time I play tennis, I look forward to serving now. I don't dread it. I never had a kick serve before, and thanks to you, I have one now. The key for me is the stance, the grip, the shoulder turn, along with the starting position with the racquet. We were rotating partners, but by the 2nd and 3rd sets, we were winning points in doubles, when I was serving. I hit one topspin serve out wide, that I never hit before. I was giving my returner trouble. I heard one player, go "Wow"...I could not believe it. By far to me, the kick serve gives the most bang for your buck. It is my favorite serve to learn. And did I mention, I never had a kick serve before! Thank you Jeff! Keep coaching tennis.

This is a great video, Jeff. I've started to implement a kick serve as a second serve this week in matches. Double-faulting as I get used to the new serve but also notice the difficulty opponents have with a kick serve and getting free points from it. Looking forward to persevering with it and improving. Thanks

Reason I say that is I made no. 6 at Sac State with just a year in the game. All I had was a basketball /tennis coach and Rod Lavers Education of a Tennis Player to go on! Kids too cool to study your videos are missing a complete path to understanding the techniques and psychology of tennis from beginner to pro. You are doing the world tennis community a tremendous service! I study your videos closely and take the instruction to the practice court try it out constantly. You're without doubt the best tennis coach I've ever had!! No BS!!

Awesome video Jeff, it's helped me visualizing and putting into practice on my own kick with great results. Pausing the video at the peak of where you have tossed the ball on what I thought was the best kick serve on the video at about 8:27 really put in perspective where the ball should be realistically in relation to the body at impact. Jeff, your tip on “covering the ball” has made all the difference. It is probably the most valuable tip on kick serve, on top of what is already on KZread. I want to say that this instructional video about the kick serve is the best I have seen on the internet because it provides some small details that others don't have and I've watched most of top KZread tennis channels. I can tell those important and correct/ helpful even though I myself can't properly execute a kick serve YET, but as I play different sports having good native coordonation and attention to details of movement and control of the ball like football or freestyle football, I understand after I've watched and listened to your tips that those small parts really matter. Now I'm really determined to learn this kick serve! Great content man! Alex

Amazed at such a high kick with what looks like 75% effort! Very fluid and assuming your body and arm are very relaxed throughout. Thanks for the great vid Jeff!!

You are amazing Jeff! the way you explained It is eye opening for me how to generate kick serve and why so far before watching your video my 2nd serve tend to become sliced serve instead of kick serve.

By far one of the very very best explanations and demonstration! of how to hit a kick serve correctly. Just looking at the bounce of the ball, with such little effort tells me why a "pro"'s play and talent level is so vastly different than the rest of us. Started playing tennis in my forties - was a table tennis player - and have been playing nearly every other day for the past 2 years. It is 25 deg outside this morning but watching this video makes me want to go out and try this out to get a real kick serve. Your explanation is simply amazing!!. Every 14 yr old tennis aspirant should watch this video twice a day and practice this on court with 50 balls for 20 mins/day for 2 months. The results will be amazing!..

I played tennis for years but took a break for a while. Technique wasn't off too much but my consistensy was egh. Watched this video, went back to the court, changed my stance up a little and was cracking 200 all day. ;) Dude, great tutorial.

Agree! I love finding a lefty too. Serving is actually so different for lefties. Good stuff. One question I had that I've never seen discussed anywhere is how serving is different on the ad side vs deuce side. Every time I get to the ad side I feel there's no natural way to angle your feet so that you are aimed properly. It's easy to cut a serve out wide from any angle but what is the best position to hit both sides of the service box. Hmm I wonder. Do you have any recommendations for a lefty serving on the ad side?
