I might be biased but the talk around Tony was ALWAYS "yeah but he has 0 natties" among the realistic people I have had debates with most have said Tony is easily one of the best however the goose egg in Natty wins and his ability to take a team all the way was always thrown into question but now that's off the table I think it's time people start giving him the respect he deserves, people can say a lot about the dude us UT fans will absolutely run through a brick wall for him but anyone who doesn't have him top 3 (minimum) is just disrespectful out of sheer hate for the dude.

I think Tony V might get a lot of lashback still bc of those years TN was by far the best team in the nation but didnt win the WS, but what I think a lot of people forget is that there is so much luck involved in baseball. 1/16th of an inch is the difference between a hit and a fly ball. A split second is the difference between a double and a lineout to SS. Even now, although Tony V got one, I thik its still just a matter of when not if he gets a second one and a third one if TN decides to let him keep the reigns like he has them now. The way he recruits (which he is easily one of the best recruiters in the nation) and the way he progresses those guys is 2nd to none, and even though luck is very involved, Tony V could be the least lucky coach ever and still win a couple just because of how many times he has and will put his guys in the position to get lucky.

Those years…? It was 1 year (2022). And the best team in baseball doesn’t win most of the time. Hence, Tennessee is the 1st overall #1 to win it all since 1999.

Is Tony the best there is in college baseball? I think right now, at this time, yes. Other legend coaches took way longer to win a title. Tony did it in 7 seasons, and truly only 6 full seasons. From where this program was to where it is now is nothing short of incredible, and in record breaking fashion in many stats. He checked all the marks over the last 4 years but was missing that national title and collected SEC tournament and SEC championships along the way. He swept the reginals, supers, and finally Omaha. Won more games than any team has over the last 4 years and 60 wins for an all time SEC recored. Keep in mind, this in the modern era after the 1992 game cap at 56. So to me, this is more impressive to do in 56 post cap season games than 68 wins pre 1992 capped seasons.

The Texas Longhorn fanbase where that they're going to steal Tony from us and the Arkansas fan base swear he'll crawl over glass when their coach retires to come back there and coach

Vitello is one of the best, but he’s not better than DVH, Corbin, or Bianco. All four built their programs from the ground up. O’Sullivan, Jay Johnson, and Schlossangle are all great coaches, but they took over elite programs. Vitello, DVH, Bianco, and Corbin are the Mt. Rushmore of active college baseball coaches. And Vitello is the best recruiter out of the bunch!
