You’re so welcome! I hope you find some new favorites 🥰
I just finished Kings of the Wyld and LOVED it! I'm not the least bit familiar with the associations that may have been made with rock bands (and honestly, I'm kind of glad because I feel like that would make it a bit cheezy) but it was such a good time! Excited to read Rose's story next.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 🔥 Happy reading!
I bought The Forgotten Beats of Eld just for that cover art and it turned out to be a wonderful book too. And just to add to it, Dune had just come out which contains use of The Voice, like a Jedi mind trick, and here in Eld she wields a command type of power. Dragonslayer I really liked but I was on to other things when its sequels came out and I did not continue. I have made a note of Seasons of Albadone.
Awesome list Tori! A couple of really interesting ones I hadn't heard of too! I think I've mentioned, but I love that you loved Guns of the Dawn. It's an all-timer for me, and Emily might just be my favourite female character ever??? Hmm, I have to think about it, but she's up there for sure!!

Thank you so much for watching! I hope you find some new faves 😍
Loving the hair! 🔥 I started Kings of the Wyld but had to return it to the library before I finished. I think I will return to it this summer. Needle and Leaf sounds interesting, too. Think I’m going to try Jacqueline Carey this summer also. Kushiel’s Dart looks like it would fit a “hot” theme. 😊

Thank you so much! There’s so many good options for summer.
The Watch series is my absolute favorite in Discworld, and Guards Guards is one i'm a bit attached to being my first Pratchett novel and for having a much more tight and small cast you get to know intimately before the Watch ultimately expands in later entries (thoguh Nightwatch is my absolute favorite). My favorite summer read was about 2 years ago when I read through Deadhouse Gates. I got covid around that time, and my normal response when sick is to get as warm as I possibly could. I put on a bunch of sunscreen, took the book, and burned through 600 pages of Malazan in a couple days. For some reason my ability to hyperfixate increases when sick, and it helped too that the story itself going through a massive desert plague-infested continent in Seven Cities really felt like it put me in the story. To this day one of my favorite experiences going through a fantasy novel, or any novel for that matter.

I love that you had such a great experience with Deadhouse! It’s my favorite fantasy novel of all time currently. I’m so hooked on the City Watch! Can’t wait to get through them all.
Knowing what Kings of the Wyld is loosely based on, I think “Wyld” was spell just a bit differently.
As a type of booktube video, it's always interesting to see the criteria applied to seasonal recommendations. The thing I look for are books that are explicitly about that season; a land that is in the thick of it, or in leu of summer/winter, is just perpetually very very hot/cold, like Dune/the Winter of the World. the Lies of Lock Lamora would fit both of our Summer schemas I think. I got a whole list going. Just something about accentuating physical sensation into the book being read is appealing to me, though maybe sometimes it's nice to escape from the summer with an autumn or winter story. I'm also into metaphorical applications, a story about birth for spring, summer for maturity, autumn for seniority and winter for death. Thus reading Neverending Story is tempting between Winter and Spring, or Kings of the Wyld in Autumn. I've bought Seasons of Albadone and I think I'll start it in the autumn as that's the first story, and take a whole year with it. If I love it, as I expect to, I'll get their companion novel. Probably thought too hard about this. LOL😅

I'm not sure what I have planned to read over the summer. I have This Wretched Valley and some Amy Goldsmith on the TBR along with my continuation of the Anita Blake and Harry Dresden series, but I'm also toying with the idea of reading Carrie and Undead Samurai. Eeney Meeney Miney Moe time.

Sounds like a fun summer whichever you choose!
Hi Tori, good selection of books. I've read Legend and Guards Guards a long long time ago, also more recently read Seasons Of Albadone (after you recommended it previously) all very good books. Thrice sounds like a good read, I'll be adding that to my TBR. Also to add an author recommendation of my own for you, please try out Charles De Lint, he is my favourite author and I think he will really gel with your reading tastes.
