Your makeup is extra beautiful today! Those colors really suit you! Love this video. I definitely will be upgrading some of my equipment soon and love this series. Wish it was around when I started long long long ago. Not sure if it will be in part two but I love my prep cups. It's just great for weighing things and then putting them in the main container. I find if I measure into the main container, If I accidentally dump in too much, I can ruin my whole batch!

Thanks so much Marie! I love the whole microwave stovetop thing! 😂 I totally get that though. Too funny! I must say it’s easier, in my opinion, to use a microwave for melting solid oils when I make soap. However; I like the water bath method for everything else. I found the cutest silicone spoons on amazon with a mini scraper on one end and the spoon on the other with a long thin handle, similar to your steel mini spoons. I definitely want to get a couple of those! My Dad was a chemist and I’ve always loved chemistry style beakers and such. I’m excited to get some beakers and glass stirrers too!! Anyway, thanks again for all you do I really appreciate it! ☮️💟

Lovely video!!! Short, precise and to the point. I myself never use the microwave; I always boil on the stove stop like yourself. Great advice about the notebook; I write on pieces of paper and can never find them when I need them. Keep up the good work coming from a Toronto.

Thank you for your suggestions I was thinking to myself what do I need 🤔 💭 and your video popped up right on time 🙏🏾. As far as the Americans boiling water in the microwave for tea comment. Well as an American I’ve never heard of that before lol 😆 we use tea pots, tea kettles or just a pot of water boiled on the stove. I would hope people wouldn’t think it was ok to boil water in a microwave let alone their food, but hey you did say “Americans” lmao 😂

I finally bought a Jensen scale and love it. I still have my KD scale for soaping and still have my random jeweler's scales from .1 to .001 in weight. Love them as well. I love lab spoons, I use them for all my powder ingredients, I love Norpro spatulas for formulating. I prefer spoonulas for soaping. The kind that are one solid piece. Glass beakers of every size from 25 to 2000 ml. as well as glass stirring rods from 8 in to 12 in. long. I do have some children's spoons for dry ingredients, they're great...I bought them second hand before I got my lab spoons. I also ❤️ polypropylene jugs for lye solutions and working with batches of soap to mix colors into so you don't have plain white soap! I also have those in 250 ml to 3000 ml. Hey, I make a lot of soap! I buy my polypropylene jugs and my large batch storage containers from Webstraunt Supplies. They ship very fast. I always have my order in 2-3 days. I use canning jars to store liquids. Oils that I have added chamomile or calendula flowers in and storing herbs and such. They're cheap you can buy a dozen for 6$. Honestly when I go to the dollar store, I scan all the isles for useful bobs and bits. You'd be surprised what you find! Especially whisks and funnels. I go to Walmart for a lot of my storage needs. Also second hand stores and Goodwill have excellent old furniture. I've taken several old dressers and repainted them to match my studio colors. They make great storage and give you extra table surface to work on. Never forget vertical space...shelves are awesome ways to store things. I have a colorful wall of micas. Ialso store my beakers up there. Stainless Steel bakers racks are great for storage. I have all my candle wax and supplies in lidded tubs on all those shelves. I store my waxmelters there too! I hope this helps others to design their space!

Thanks for mentioning the microwave method. I found it very useful and economical because you use less energy and save time. I can get my water phase and oil phase to 70 degrees Celsius in around 1-2 mins using 30 min blasts and I can get to emulsifying a minute or two later. It all happens very fast and exciting vs. a water bath that uses so much energy and takes around 10 mins for water to heat and another 5 or 10 to get it to your ideal temp. Water bath still is useful though when your oil phase is composed of hard waxes like beeswax with very little liquid oil which will be difficult to melt in a microwave. I hope you give it a try someday.

I'm American but I don't use a microwave except to maybe reheat something but rarely even then do I like to use an electric kettle which gets my water boiling faster for my tea.

😂I honestly feel rather silly that it bothers me so much!

"Americans like microwaves". LOL, more profound truths have rarely been spoken... My brothers debate regularly whether or not water boiled in the microwave is REALLY boiled water. I'm firmly on the stove-boiled side of this fence. But on a formulation note- 100% go with the water bath on the stove. The waterbath-in-microwave might be ok for 200 gram batches of lip balm that need a few extra seconds so you can get it into tubes, but the first time you burn your cetyl, stearic, btms, etc by overnuking by just a few seconds you'll head for the stovetop! 🤣

I haven't owned a microwave in over 20 years!!! I would rather do stovetop for my formulations. Not all Americans like microwaves. LOL!

I found a precision scale (to 0.01 grams) at KOHL’S of all places, branded by Food Network and sold for measuring out expensive spices! I never expected to just be able to walk into a store and buy one, but it works just fine! $25 😂
