    need a bit more voltage on 2 of those amps which will fix the square wave. as it hasnt got enough of the high power rail it will just clip it because it cant create the full sine wave

  • @PacmanBasshead

    So the amps are operational between 8 and 26v, the rails on all sat at around 16v, the higher rail would allow a larger sine yes but i could run these at 8v and as long as i set the output to the correct level where its between the developed rail voltage then itll play a clean signal. The sine wave is then created from the audio source and injected inbetween the rails 🙂. You are right though, id be very interested to see what they do at 20+v!

    1st board is probably good, but may lack buffering for some inputs (unsure). 2nd board is crap, as stated, yet they've been selling them this way for years. 3rx board is probably not as good as estimated since the output inductors tend to cook on that design and the heatsink is far too small for two 100w chips. It is technically 50w + 50w + 100w, though (10%THD). They just bridge 1 chip to drive the sub, though I don't think there's any crossover/rolloff. These amps can be great and I'm using one smaller than a deck of cards as a Bluetooth amp on my mid-tower speakers, but the boards with two bridged chips claiming twice the power are suspect as some designers didn't know how to implement bridged mode properly and the boards are *never* corrected; they're just churned out so long as sells continue. Also, the heatsinks are usually too small so 1 chip is more reasonable. The power ratings are ridiculous and stated even in the datasheets at 10% THD and sellers then exaggerate that some more. No hearing person can tolerate music at 10% distortion. Some boards also have unwanted rolloff at low frequencies, so look for testing on yt or elsewhere. I recall one design where the sub channel rolled off below 100Hz while the stereo channels did not, which is obviously dumb. It's hard to know which models are good implementations of the chip datasheets and they all tend to have some hiss even with no signal, but these can be excellent values if you find one of the good boards so long as you understand that they're not going to provide the stated power cleanly and without shutting down on thermal overload after a few minutes. They're usually fine for actual listening volumes, though.

    I'm actually running the 2nd and 3rd ones in my trailer as my surround sound system amps. True that the 2nd one did take some fiddling but I eventually got it tuned in and putting out some clean sound. And although I didn't enroll in your giveaway I'm currently building a pair of transmission line towers with some old Pioneer 8" and other leftover "Frankenstein" mids and tweets. If I can find a decent way to record a video and you're interested I'd be happy to share the final results, just for shits and grins lol. Oh, and that 3rd one I fell in love with the second I hooked it up to a pair of Bose 301 series that a friend gifted me. Freaking POUNDS them!

    no problems with too early fuzzies/distortion ? usually a "chinese amp" that is rated 50w only gives 10 clean watts before cataclysmic distortion kicks in.

    I have an app on my iPhone that is called signal generator or some such, and it just allows me to select any frequency and amplitude that I want. I would suggest trying to find an app like that for faster signal generation and it doesn’t require Wi-Fi to use.

    About the 2nd amp i have a few of them they work grate one of them is in the trash It all depends where they source the TPA. Chips from if you can find one with a real tpa amplifier chip and not a cheap clone the amp does quite well anyway did your amp pop during start up I had an issue with my ones I just added a wire on to the mute pin though a timer relay and basically shorts mute pin to ground for 5 ish seconds to stop it from poping the speakers

  • @PacmanBasshead

    @PacmanBasshead

    9 ай бұрын

    Nah mine didnt pop on start up. It started as normal, as you say its as though there was a naff IC on the board which meant that when the inout signal distorted heavily at the rail. Good to know they are hit and miss though, still something ill avoid. Thankyou 😊

    On the last amp, one of the speakers were wired up in reverse. That's what made it sound like rubbish. To be honest, they were all ok. I'd be interested in replacing the heat sinks if I was to actually use it.

  • @PacmanBasshead

    @PacmanBasshead

    9 ай бұрын

    Heya, i know it looks like that but it was the camera frame rate, the wires were soldered onto the speakers the same for all amps and if you look the cables into the amp are all the same way around which was correct 🙂. But yeah the fact that any of them worked was insane lol!

    with no baffle to separate front waves from rear waves it wouldn't matter what wiring configuration he used except maybe the tweeter but wouldn't matter much in this case. also even on the first amp he had the blue and red wires reversed on one speaker.

But you may be able to get around copyright by claiming fair use. I was wondering how those reaction channels work and it seems like as long as you have an opinion on what you are playing you can somehow get around it.
