Temptress Build 5: Cutting Bulkheads 4 & 9 With Shaper Origin

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Temptress Boat Build: A series of videos documenting the modern cold molded wood boat building process. The boat is a mahogany runabout "Temptress" kitted by Dan Lee Boat Building.
In this video, I use the Shaper Origin CNC router, from Shaper Tools, to cut out the bulkheads 4 and 9.
The CNC cutting will be done with the Shaper Origin CNC router:

Thanks for this. I was looking for a real time look at how the SO performs cutting large profiles out of full sheets. A useful video.

@@Polymerman I should also add, that your project is also super cool. I came for the shaper original demo, but stayed for the video series. I’m not doing a lot of boat building, but picked up a couple other tips that are useful for my furniture work (in particular the jig for your curved components in videos 21/22, or thereabouts).

does the Origin get fussy after those first, inner pieces get cut and move slightly while you are cutting the big piece out? because the tape layout was disturbed a bit?

Good question. As long as there are enough dominos that have not been cut, the Shaper Origen works well. That said, when I cut out a lot of small gussets, the Shaper Origin can signal that there are not enough full dominos. In video 6, I had to add more shaper tape and add a scan to the original workspace scan.
