Tempt Me At Twilight by Lisa Kleypas // 🤒 Powering Through Illness & Looking "Gorgeous" Vlog

Tempt Me at Twilight is the middle book (of five) of the Hathaways Series, by Lisa Kleypas. It's a great one, but Harry's an interesting character! I'm not sure how I feel about him for a lot of the book. I'm curious to hear your thoughts, as well!
Here's Harry's theme song, inspired by Poppy:

You’re so sweet! I’m not sure if I was courageous, haha! It did help me to still have something to look forward to when I wasn’t feeling well. 😀. And everyone was super supportive, which was wonderful!

I’ve been binge watching these vlogs but saved this one for last because it’s my favorite 😹 I love how ruthless Harry was! Did I always agree with how he went about things? No. But he never lied(maybe didn’t reveal everything he knew) about what he did. He saw Michael for what he was and that was someone undeserving of Poppy, he knew he’d never put her first. He simply accelerated the inevitable 🤷🏻‍♀️ and watching this man who had never known Love fall for Poppy…ahhh I die. And that moment when he realizes that Poppy loves him…SO GOOD Now that I’ve wrote you a novel, I need to go and reread this book!

"He simply accelerated the inevitable"?!? YES! Well said! Thanks for watching my vlogs. I really enjoy yours too! I especially like the ones in which you're getting ready/doing make up. If I tried that I'd poke myself in the eye and it would just be a complete disaster. LOL. Thanks for your insights into this book. It gives me new appreciation for it, as well as Harry himself! 😀

I know that some people were not a fan of Harry, but I am a sucker for a good redemption arc. I understood why Harry did what he did, though he did go about it badly, I truly feel he did have good intentions. Of course selfish intentions for himself, but I do feel like Harry was the better husband for Poppy. As you said her former fiancé didn’t fight for her, also because he was such a lapdog to his family i feel that Michael would have suffocated Poppy’s mind, because the Hathaways were so unconventional, that they would have been an embarrassment to Michael’s family. Where with Harry, he loved how Poppy’s mind worked, and was able to handle her family’s antics 🫢. That’s what I remember from that book, I have to re-read it again to see if I still feel the same way 😂

I love your insights! I never even thought about how Michael wouldn’t have appreciated Poppy’s mind. That is SUCH a good point.

You are still gorgeous, even when you aren’t feeling so good. My whole family and I had Covid in April, but lucky for us we didn’t really have any systems, all I had was a dry cough. I hope you and your husband feel better soon 🤗

OOOH! I love that. That was SUCH a good book. I'm glad you posted your opinion on here for everyone to see, since I think I was probably wishy-washy about him. He has his moments, for sure!

In reality and the 21st century, Harry would be deemed a psycho manipulator creep. But since it's fiction, historical, and suppose to be romance, I guess we can only take whatever redeeming qualities that he has as a hero. Harry is quite interesting. Although he came at Poppy in a villainous warped up way, I truly do believe that had Michael Bayning fought for Poppy, Harry would have given up even if he was in love with Poppy. And at least, Harry was honest about wanting Poppy. Since Michael Bayning chose his family, Harry took his chance. Honestly, I feel Poppy would have been way more miserable with Michael than Harry. And I think the one thing that made Harry a little more redeemable was in Married by morning, he told Leo that they don't know what it's like to be raised by ppl who never cared about them and it made me realized that Harry also wanted to be loved despite acting like he didn't care. So love him or hate him, I think he is a redeemable hero or anti-hero in this day and age.

We’ll said!! Michael definitely didn’t deserve Poppy, so ultimately I’m glad she ended up with (a growing) Harry. 😀

@Mama Needs To Read Romance! If Harry never improved, I would have agreed he is just the worst. And I am glad kleypas made their situation believable as Poppy was still wary of Harry when they were courting and once she found out, she has a firm head about what she wanted and it challenged Harry's beliefs to the point where he realized he can't keep living like a loveless overworked man who gets his way for the rest of his life.
