Ah, I place for me to vent about my problems with the Templar. Yeah, their abilities are bad, the abilities cost too much, they are too slow, there are so many anti barrack towers in KRF that they are even more useless. The Arterial Strike is a 10% chance to activate on top of a 2.5 second attack speed. 150 extra HP is 600, so just buy a barracks, so much less. Holy Grail doesn't even revive them to full HP, only a certain percentage depending on the level of the upgrade. Though, they are one of the most well designed towers to me, so it sucks that they were made terribly.

Templars are better at tanking Poukai Riders and other ranged enemies, surviving Abomination explosions and other AOE explosions, and lasting longer while trapped in nets. By the way their 200 gold health upgrade doesn’t fully heal them on iOS but it does on Steam.

In reality, you might want to kill enemies quickly. When you have Battle Mecha and Necromancer, Templars aren't need at all. Assassins can give you a lot of income early on and kill some lesser enemies quickly.

I was just answering TheRealMorgan's question of whether or not Templars were better than Assassins under any circumstances. These situations, though rare, are worth acknowledging. Also here is another fun fact: Dante's beacon of light buff applies to Assassins' abilities but not Templars' arterial strike.

Best barrack is the necromancer tower. Put that next to your artillery and profit as all the corpses of your enemies turn into friendly skeletons.

Imo the only time the templar is better to use than the assassins is when u go up against the phantoms. The assassins can't dodge the death aura and since they have relatively low health they can't really hold their own against phantoms, while the templar has more health so they can tank long enough for your hero/tower to kill the phantom.

Perhaps

Temple are better for enemies that deal area damage, due to their high health and chance of resurrection. Another situation in which Templars are better is against the following enemies: abominations, Poukai riders, Saurian Brute, savage hunters and Lycans. But still, for the most part, Assassins just straight up outclass the Templars in many cases. That doesn't mean that Templars are useless, but they are usually the less desirable option. If they were cheaper and the Arterial strike ability had better chance of occurring, they might be a good barrack units to use every now and then.

What I absolutely love about Assasins is their passive ability. They are invisible to enemies until they either move or engage in combat. This was especially useful against the desert archers, tribal hunters and the infamous Saurian Death coils. If they can't see you they can't hit you. And all of the ranged enemies are terrible in melee combat and will get shredded without being able to use their ranged advantage.

Assassins are better but Templars have it’s uses. There’s some utility to having what basically are 3 heroes defense wise. 475 HP with 60% armor full upgrades, combined with a small chance of resurrection they easily are the second best stallers in the series.

I never use them man

when there is a deathcoil spam and you have 2+ templar tower with holy grail lv 3 (they can stall the saurian deathcoils enough while artillery can kill them, assasins just invisible when they idle)

Well as i was playing the last campaign level from the jungle, there were alot of Poukai Riders and the templars are actually quite a help against them for stalling. I mean it's not that big of a deal but it's something.

Ok there are some situations where templars are better: 1. Area attackers such as gorillons and laser-whipped dinos 2. With the hp and revive upgrade, they can stall the deathcoils for so long, especially when It's combined with dierdre who has also reviving ability 3.Combined with a necromancer they preforms better. Idk why but that's it. Maybe because the death rider tanks anyways and you don't need the dodge or something but It does preforms better.

if the assassins have maxed out Sneak attack and they all attack one enemy it takes about 6.6 seconds to pull that trigger and get the instakill. In the Sunken Citadel it's always hard to choose which way to kill the Bloodshells. Either rely on Assassin instakill chance or place two archamges, because they have insane damage and Bloodhsells have nothing to stop the damage except for Medium armor. Also if there was a Rising tides Endless mode the miniboss would prolly look like a bigger Bloodshell and it'd be impossible to get far, since Bloodshells are immune to Fat boy.

I always used the templars since I never liked chance type upgrades and the low health did not help either to convince me to use the assassins

Assassins are generally great against basically everything with minor exceptions- templars are good against aoe and tank ranged better but assassins are still comparable in those areas due to instant kills and cloaking. However, templars do much better against bosses with an aoe. Instant kills don’t work there, arterial strike does a good amount of dot, and they have a decent chance to self revive. However, that’s an extremely specific scenario, and assassins deal with backup dancers far more effectively. TLDR; templers are slightly better against ranged and aoe enemies and aoe bosses, but not enough to really justify using them.

I like the assasins because of the stealing ability and their special attack ability and their invisibility against ranged enemies,but i like the templars because of their tankiness,armor,damage and holy water and blood sword attack.Overall i like both of the baracks. Templars are also better against abomination explosion bc more hp and even if they die they can respawn. They don’t get obliterated by green fins while assassins can’t dodge or execute abilities. So they have some situations that they are better besides Gorillions !

One of the problems I encountered with the Assassins is their low damage without the upgrades. When I get dodge and instant kills. It fixes the issue and makes the Templars useless to me. However, on their own templars to be surrounded by towers are pretty good. Until however, the blast guys come in and the range enemies then again the assassins are better because of them being invisible. Conclusion: Assassins are better.

I had only one time when templars were better. Port Tortuga, Iron challenge. Just a hell giant amount of shots from Gunboats, RIDICULOUS amount of them. So, my assassins just died, cause these gunboats don't care about their invisibility. And when they died other enemies just walk through. Sp I decided to place here templars with health upgrade AND THEY SURVIVED! So, I've completed it only with their help.

Hey fun fact: In Origins, Barracks has the lv5 upgrade to revive when deal lethal damage. Although the chance to revive are 25% lower than the Templars' 40% max upgrade, it can affect every aspect of unit and revive at max HP and doesn't cost gold at all. So yeah, Templars are absolutely outclassed in all aspect and should never be used.

Really? I found the first kingdom rush easier than frontiers and a lot easier. This was way back but the first time I got into the jungle area I did pretty horrible compared to KR I mostly spammed the Tesla to carry.

Templar is useful if there's enemies that have damage high enough where utilizing the Assassin's dodge chance isn't worth it. It's also good against Greenfins, where the nets make the Assassin unable to utilize the dodge. As other comments stated, Templars are also useful as meat shield for range and area attacks Templars are good as defensive troops, while Assassin are good as offensive troops

The Assassin can use it's Sneak and Counter Attack to kill the enemy, or at least injure them where the Templars can do the rest of the work before the Assassin die. The Templar high health and amor can also be use to buy the Assassin some time for them to respawn.

I hate assassins, and why this game doesn't put shields on the Templars, the Templars use normal crusader swords, not longswords like in this game, and why they don't have a cross on the tunic. Anyways, now I use Templars all the time and I upgrade them to the top making enemies poop. it's good that the Templars have a simple chainmail and not a stupid great helmet as they generally do with memes. I hated when I was supposed to use assassins in the game in campaign, but now, only Templars. also the templars are not the worst tower ever, there's one and its the barbarians.

I don't remember ever using templar in KRF, they're just too expensive and slow. Assassins kill so fast and supported with necromancer they're almost unstoppable. Paladin from first KR is much better imo

Templars are better for pure stalling as their effective hp with max endurance upgrades exceeds the assasin's effective hp with dodge. Templars are also significantly better for aoe enemies and ranged enemies. Assassins are better for dealing damage. Overall assassins are better for early waves, templars are better for later waves and just post game in general.
