It appeared to me like the girl with the yellow stripe singlet was caught in a front headlock and the girl on top was trying to extend her out to possibly get a roll so she yanked on her a few times and the girl didn’t like that. Of course it was perfectly legal and is necessary to set that move up. That girl just has a bit of an issue with her temper.

From a front headlock, if your opponent is backed all the way up on their haunches then they are in a very tough position. It is literally the exact way to manipulate your opponents body is to to yank them, which you seem to think is smashing their face into the mat, but that extends her body from her haunches so she is on all fours. From there she can either shuck her by, hit her go behind, or hit a roll from the front headlock and score points for back exposure right from there. She was doing classic textbook wrestling stuff by extending her body out because that’s the only way she can be successful hitting any move from that position. Girl on the bottom didn’t understand the move and decided to get upset. Girl with the front headlock did nothing but wrestle.

@@williamdavis1250That’s unfortunate. You’re wrong. When a person has a front headlock on their opponent the only way to hit a move from that position is to extend their body out so they are on all fours. You accomplish that by yanking hard forcing them to extend, and then you can shuck them by, or run behind them, or hit a roll from that front headlock position. None of those things can be done if the girl on the bottom is backed all the way up on her haunches. So what you are saying is that she can try to extend her opponent once but not twice? Come on! She can yank on her all day if she is trying to get her into position. There’s defensive moves she can do, she just didn’t’t understand the move and got angry. The girl on top was doing classic wrestling moves that we teach all these kids in the mat room. They dare not hit any move before extending their opponents body out so they should do whatever is necessary to accomplish that.

The way to extend your opponent in that position is to yank them toward you to extend their body and once she is on all fours she can be rolled. In wrestling, it is quite a common tactic to put moves on your opponent that feel uncomfortable. When you are wrestling and giving 100% to try and win and your opponent puts you on your back, it can honestly feel like you are drowning and it can be almost scary for newer wrestlers. This is absolutely necessary to the sport. It teaches people to be the toughest version of themself through hard work and discipline. It is damn uncomfortable to have a forearm pressed into the back of your neck. But who ever joined the wrestling team so that they can be comfortable? You work your ass off every day and only through blood sweat and lots of tears do you grow into the wrestler you hope to become. It’s anything but easy. It beguiles me to think how you could make such a comment as if something is wrong with pressing down on the back of her neck with her forearm. Both girls are doing anything they can to expose the other girl’s back. A wrestling match is just two people performing a variety of moves on each other to see what is effective and what will score points.

There are some things that give me glimpses into how freakin soft we have become. The stupid crap that people say about things they do not comprehend. Wrestling is not a soft sport. If these kids were scared of contact then they wouldn’t try out for the wrestling team. Look how many idiots are saying that she is bouncing the other girl’s head and face off the mat. How pathetic are you? If your opponent on the wrestling mat allows you to bounce their head off the mat over and over, then they deserve to get their head bounced off the mat. It’s that simple. Most people do this really rare move when someone tries to do something to them that they don’t like, it’s called “flexing.” It’s where the muscles in the area you are being touched actually tense up and incredibly, it works! You can actually stop someone from bouncing your head off of a mat by stiffening the muscles in your neck. Physiology is amazing stuff. Wrestlers are trying their very best to work against another person who may have different strengths and different techniques but both people are trying their hardest to win. And it is widely known in many different sports that if you can get under your opponents skin that is often times a key strategy for victory. Conversely, someone who can’t keep a good control over their temper probably has some issues they will need to sort out at one point or another in their life. But in any case, your feelings are going to become a major obstacle for a lot of people and if you can’t control them then you may carry on throughout your life throwing them around as if they matter. What I’m saying is that you will never see all the doors that could have been open for you but slammed shut the moment you thought you thought your feelings were important. Getting angry is a great way to make yourself look like a real fool in public. Most kindergartners struggle with temper tantrums but learn pretty quick to control that. Some people never grew up from kindergarten. This stuff is textbook wrestling technique. Here is the link to a video about front headlocks by Ben Askren. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ioWGldqEhtWpl6g.html At 1:25, he even says the goal is to bounce your opponents head off the mat from a front headlock. And then goes on to show how to snap your opponent down from the front headlock in the exact same fashion that we saw the girl do in this match. Get over yourself. If the girl doesn’t like her head being bounced off the mat then she needs to work harder in practice so that she becomes the one who bounces other girls heads off the mat. Hard work pays off. Complaining about things being not fair and getting angry about it are what people do in place of hard work. And they will always lose at everything they do.

You should definitely just go get your kids into basketball and leave wrestling alone. People with flash tempers are not going to do well in wrestling. It is the most disciplined sport on Earth. Nothing else even compares. Call it violence you paddy cake, you just Donny understand what is happening at all. The girl with the front headlock is trying to get her opponent into a position to hit a move. There is nothing violent about it. It is extremely controlled. The girl that threw a tantrum and shoved her is just not experienced enough to know that was a perfectly legal move. In order to roll the girl, she needed to extend her body out. She does that by yanking her toward the mat and pulling her back. You can’t hit those moves if the girl is backed up on her haunches. Oh but since she didn’t consider her opponents feelings first she shouldn’t hit that move. That’s garbage and you know it. Wrestling stands out as the most productive and valuable thing I have ever done in my life. These kids put a lot of hard work into this sport and learning how to wrestle is an incredible experience. And with the degree of discipline necessary to become a wrestler, they become anything but people who go out and try to become violent on the street after practice. That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. How about wrestling stays, and you go bury your head in the sand and pretend it doesn’t exist. It’s obviously a bit too much for you to handle.

You should wear a dress& sell Bud Light. Wrestling is an art form. It’s biomechanics in its purist form. There are rules. I been there 50 years ago I was an All- American Wrestler. & I am a well respected member of the Human race. Duh!

I bet you wouldn’t be the “ guy” to depend on in any serious situation? Let me guess; democrat? Cool with all triggered violence, but can’t understand competitive sports? Bet you never played anything besides golf too?

Last I recall, nobody put you in charge. Wrestling is an intense sport, a contest that both those girls chose to enter. It requires superior discipline and training. That kind of discipline serves a child well throughout their life.

I get so frustrated watching females wrestle. It takes SO long before something happens. SMH at this level this should have gone down SO much sooner.

Sometimes I would agree with with on this. But recently I started watching this girl from Fremont, Ca, Hannah Ramirez, and this girl is different. She hits a head & arm better than any guy I have ever seen. She does judo as well and she posts all her tournaments online. She’s freakin good and fun to watch.

The shorter girl used the mat as a weapon

That’s like saying someone has an advantage in a pillow fight because they have a bigger pillow. Both girls have the ability to use the mat in any way they can if they believe it will help them. But the mat doesn’t move so it provides no advantage to one girl over another. Wrestling is a tough sport. Look at the way you describe it. “Used the mat as a weapon.” It’s fundamental mischaracterization and it’s ridiculous. It’s part of the pussification of the new generation. Teach all the kids to be perpetual victims and that their feelings matter and when they get offended everybody needs to dance around them so they don’t hurt their feelings. Wrestling is anti-woke. Only the most special kids can be wrestlers because it requires so much more than any other sport. You stand across from an opponent who has trained their ass off so they can be better than you and beat you and only by training harder than them can you prevent that from happening. Wrestling requires the biggest sacrifice and it has the biggest reward than any other sport. The values that wrestling instills in kids are values that will help them to navigate their entire lives. Either of these girls could walk off that mat at any moment and refuse to continue wrestling if they don’t like it. But how wrestling works is if someone allows their opponent to bounce them around, then they deserve to get bounced around. Inevitably in everyone’s wrestling career, they will end up facing a few opponents that are just far better than they are and they get dominated. Kids cry because it bruises their ego, they don’t cry because they are in physical pain. The magic of wrestling happens when those special kids that get beat go home and decide they don’t want to get beat anymore and it causes them to work harder and get better. And then one day they can walk out on the mat and beat that guy or girl that beat them before. So stop with this “weaponization” crap, they’re big girls. They both know that when someone puts them in a move that they don’t like they can flex their muscles and give resistance and stop the person from doing what they are doing. The girl with the front headlock is literally doing exactly what she was taught to do in practice with that move. She needs to yank hard on her and pull her head down in order to extend the girls body so she can roll her or shuck her by, maybe hit a knee tap and circle to the off balance side, whatever. She can’t do any of that while the girl on the bottom is back on her haunches. And in wrestling when you want to hit a move and make it effective, you do it hard and fast and give it everything up you got because if you don’t give it 100% then your opponent is going to counter with 100% of what they have and roll right over you. No weapons. No feelings. No fairness. Each wrestler gives it everything they have for 6 minutes and at the end the best wrestler gets their hand raised.
