Forment of Helltire is one fun card

"Casts Torment of Hailfire, where X is 115." What an incredible sentence. It might be all kinds of janky, but Sanctum of the Sun is super fun XD

My girl Hapatra! Too bad it lost buy I can't get mad at someone activating Sanctum of the Sun to a Torment of Heilfire.

In this grand confrontation, Naktamun's two most powerful viziers battled for supremacy, whilst the Thrall Breeder and the Brander sought to gain power. Hapatra, in darkest magics, created a nigh infinite loop that would've sealed the fate of all who opposed her, were it not for Mathas reigning authority o'er the counsuls, and spared himself from death. He then solved the sphinx's puzzle, obtained the power of the sun, and plunged the city into death with the power of Hailfire, overwhelming Hapatra and her serpents.

Chickenman161 well ever since Phyrexia's army filled and the mirran perished, not many vats were needed, so I've bided my time till a new war by adding some more drama to these skirmishes. Sigh, when will the Gitaxians figure out a portal to other worlds? If you could, tell them to hurry up so i can get back to my job with our soldiers needing reinforcments on the front line.

Here's what I discovered with my Sram deck. I have Puresteel and Bloodforged battle axe work too well together, not only because of the metalcraft effect, but his other ability which draws you a card whenever an equipment comes into play for you. A fierce combo for sure

This game actually teached me that tokens do trigger on death effects before being removed from the game. Destroying lots of game results I had with my friends. But hey, thanks for the advice^^

About the Hapatra combo, you forgot to mention you need two 1-toughness creatures (which Hapatra should easily provide you) in addition to the pieces you mentioned above.

I found you just about a month ago, and already I've seen most of your commander videos, and you're the only creator I've enjoyed enough to support on patreon. Keep making your wonderful content!

I love how fast the pace is on these videos. All the dross is cut out, but you still manage to inject the right amount of humor. If I want to see a card up close, I can pause (because you put enough of a time window of the card being enlarged). You've got this down to a science, and I can't wait for the next video.

Just the right medicine I need after finishing my paper!!! Thanks a lot man! Always nice to see a different Hapatra built go off and display that bonkers power of hers...really love her as a commander! And that Torment of Hailfire-kill had me grinning so hard!!! I think all my black decks run it as alternate win-con... Thanks again and keep it up!

Love your videos, but figured i should point out that you can't activate abilities while cursed by overwhelming splendor, which includes equipment. i know it didn't affect the game much, but just for future knowledge. ;)

I feel bad Saar couldn’t get anywhere this game and that was quite the combo blow out attempt.

im late as eff on this vid, but Blood-forged Battleaxe is nuts with Sigarda's aid out. start strapping them to a healer's hawk, and that little one drop gets real scary real quick.

Great vid! I think some things might have been missed with the splendor though, it removes all abilities, which includes temmet's triggered one. Also if you want the abilities from any equipment you have to equip them again so they have newer timestamps.

Yea, that's my bad on the Overwhelming Splendor. It was the second time I'd seen the card, so I'll be watching it carefully in the future! Thank you for catching it though!

Am very interested in finding the right combination of cards for Mathas that fit me. This helped a lot. Yeah, Mana screw really takes it out of a game.

I know this video is older, but I am going back through and watching them. I just wanted to let you know that when your opponents are attacking each other you can use the Duelist Heritage trigger on their creatures, causing them to do more damage to each other. It’s a fun political move to do and can get you an ally.

overwhelming splendor makes it so you can't activate most abilities, so you couldn't equip the battleaxes onto temmet. not that it mattered :)

Pls tell Joe to keep using those sweet mercadian masks swamps! They are awesome and i use them myself all the time.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hapatra could just gain infinite life with authority on the field by representing the infinite loop draining Rob. Rob would never actually take damage, but hapatra player would still gain infinite life

That last play was freaking sweet lol

Doesn't the combo only work on nontoken creatures, since it specifies "put into a graveyard from play" rather than "dies"? Hepatra only creates token creatures, so I'm confused as to how that works...

You can still equip while enchanted with overwhelming splendor?

Notably, sigardaa’s aid (as you mentioned) would get around that issues and be a neat work around

Matt's Temmet deck is awesome. I feel like I played it poorly though.

Would love to see more budget builds. Something where the cheaper the better, but more rediculous lol

12:35 your token should’ve gotten +1/+1 and unblockable with temmet. Just a small thing I noticed in a video full of misplays

Were those just regular card sleeves Joe was drawing on with dry erase markers, making those creature tokens and whatnot? If so that's pretty genius and I may have to start doing that

When a snake dies to a -1/-1 counter, Blood Artist drains for 1. At the same time, Hapatra makes a new snake token and Rob gains 1 life from Authority

The Endrek deck is not there :(

At 5:10 John plays Stinging shot, putting three -1/-1 counters on his enemy's creature, but only gets 1 snake. Why is it one snake? I thought it should be 3 no?

So, because of how Jon's combo worked, he kept killing a creature to have a new one come in. This meant that Rob would gain life from the Authority each time Jon cycled through, so even if he had targeted Rob he could never have killed him as whatever Rob had just lost he would get it back immediately.

I'm way into dry-erase tokens and counters.

Poor Joe... he was pretty much a spectator in that game

He wasn't set on giving Splendor to Rob, and I've seen enough of Rob's deck to know that you can't leave him alone. Joe seemed like a non-threat and I didn't realize that Jon was packing combo.

Jon is playin Ammit Eternal wrong, he wouldn’t get snakes from Hapatra because HE didn’t put the -1/-1s on Ammit Eternal, they are just put there. Hapatra gives you snakes only if YOU put -1/-1s on a creature
