We do that because of how it translates from Spanish to English. In Spanish we say “Mi mamá dijo que lavaras los trastes” to another sibling. Its a possessive adjective which is common in Spanish. So, if we translate that to English it would be. “My mom said to wash the dishes.” Some people don’t say it like that, but our family does and we’ve been asked “why?” many times.🤣
